~one year later~
A whole year had passed after you'd started working at the happy hotel. It was kind of like an anniversary of you coming to hell. It was the day after the extermination that year and Charlie had been invited on the news for an interview about the happy hotel with news reporter Katey Killjoy. That news lady always gave you the creeps, but this was a great opportunity for Charlie to make her hotel popular and so you didn't complain. But you couldn't join Charlie and Vaggie for the interview because you had some work to do for the grand opening of the hotel. So you stayed back at the hotel Charlie and Vaggie went for the interview. Angel had disappeared into thin air that morning but you didn't really mind because it meant you could get more work done with fewer disturbances.
In the past year you'd picked up a lot about hell and the modern world, it wasn't really a hard task because Angel was a talker and you made somewhat of a good listener(at least you survived his rantings). Vaggie on the other hand wasn't that nice to you but seemed a bit unnaturally sweet with charlie.
Was something up between them?
Though she did give you some good advice occasionally showing that she did indeed care. Charlie and you became good friends too.
Who'd have thought I'd be friends with the princess of hell one day.
Your modern slangs had become quite nonsusceptible. Even your fake deer ears moved more naturally with your head, though you still hide them under your hat. You put on a good act as well and had become better at keeping your past a secret.
Later that day you saw what had happened in the interview on the TV. Of course the one thing Angel excelled at apart from being a flirt was at ruining other people's dignity. You also remembered you had some errands to run and left the hotel texting Charlie about it. You came back a little while later but when you entered you could tell you'd missed a lot. The hotel was unrecognisable! It hadn't been that clean since the day you'd first joined there. And there was a new bar!
How'd whoever brought this here convince Vaggie? You thought to yourself inspecting the new bar. Suddenly a huge pair of wings unfold from behind the counter. You jump back looking as pale as a ghost. You'd thought it was an angel and it freaked the hell out of you. You'd never expected to meet one ever again, not after what had happened.
Thankfully a cat demon emerged along with the wings and you let out a soft sigh, though you didn't let your guard down because you were damn sure you'd never met him before. He had long ears and claws for fingers. He wore a little bow tie and had thick and long eyebrows. His face read 'just leave me the fuck alone' all over.
Is he some kind of a creep? What does he want? He looks kinda drunk? Wait, is he a guest? After what happened on TV that's impossible.
You continue to stare at him up and down and he breaks the silence. "Whatdya want kid? Can't you let a demon sleep in peace?", he says holding a bottle of cheap booze in his hand.
"What do you mean? I work here and who are you even to ask me that?"
"So your that fucking demon the princess was talking about.........(Y/n), right? I'm husk, I guess I'm gonna be fucking working with you now or something."
"Wait what? Work with me? I need to talk to Charlie.", you turn around but before you could even take a single step, a little demon scrambles to your feet from a corner.
She was short, very short. She wore a skirt and top on with a scarf tied around her neck. The creepy thing is she only and one eye. She seemed to be filled with energy, too much maybe. She started dusting your shoes.
"Oh my! Your shoes are a mess and they've tracked mud into the hotel. You should really be more careful and wipe your feet before you enter. So rude of me, I almost forgot to introduce myself. My name's Niffty! Who are you? You've got such pretty (e/c) eyes. I really like your dress, where'd you get it. I bet I can make it even prettier.", she talked as fast as a bullet train and you could hardly make out the things she was saying.
You cut her off by introducing yourself hoping she'd slow down.
"I'm (y/n), I work here at the happy hotel. It's nice to meet you Niffty."
"Oh the pleasures all mine. You must be the girl Charlie was talking about."
Before she could say anything else you asked her, "So did Charlie hire you too?"
"Yeah. But actually Alastor hired me, but what's the difference. I'm in charge of cleaning"
"Oh, well that's great, I guess we did need a few extra hands on deck. If you'll excuse me, I'm gonna put these things back and go look for Charlie. There's uh.....something I need to talk to her about.", and with that you head towards the kitchen and set down the things you'd gotten. It smelled of something familiar in there, jambalaya! You loved eating the jambalaya your friend used to make you when you were alive. You ignore the tempting smell, then make your way up the stairs.
No one else was in the lobby so you hoped to find Charlie or Vaggie somewhere around the rooms. But you dreaded the fact that there were more than 30 floors in this hotel.
How am I ever going to find them here? I'll just call her.
You take out your phone to call Charlie but there's no signal. That's weird, there's usually plenty of coverage here.
You stand there trying to get a signal, waving your hellphone in the air when you hear a static noise from behind you. You turn around but there's only a dark hallway ahead of you. You shrug it off and continue waving your phone in the air like a lunatic. You hear the static noise again, this time its closer. You look back but you can't see anything in the darkness. You try to turn on the lights but its no use.
The lights don't seem to be working. Great! Now I'll have to replace that too.
The static noise seems to get closer and you can't ignore it any longer. It starts to get very eerie around you and your phone's acting funny. You look all around you, a little concerned. You've never experienced something like this before, it felt like a scene from a horror movie. You were never a fan of the dark. You take a step back towards the stairs but they seem to be moving away from you, soon the stairs are nowhere in sight. Your a bit worried but still try to keep your composure.
Calm down (y/n), it's all in your head. Your probably just tired from all the work today and need a little rest. That's all this is. You think to yourself trying to calm down.
The darkness seemed to engulf you in it and you did not like this. The static noise got louder and closer until it felt like it was coming from right behind you. You slowly turn around but nothing's there. You blink your eyes for a split second and suddenly a tall and skinny figure stands before you. He had a wide and sharp yellow-toothed smile stretched across his face, literally from ear to ear. His clothes are all red, a red dress shirt, a crimson coat, a Burgundy bow tie. A black monocle rests on his right eye and he held a cane with a microphone on its end in one of his hands that were behind his back. His eyes were glowing red. His hair was red and black at the ends with two tufts of hair sticking upwards similar to your deer ears. Two little antlers stuck out of his head between the tufts of hair, which if you're honest looked totally cute. He was unnaturally tall and his skin was pale and greyish. Looking at his whole figure was unnerving and intimidating.
You just stared at him in shock. Your mouth slightly opens as you try to speak but nothing seems to come out. He leans in closer to you and you stumble backward, falling down and knocking your hat off your head which reveals your deer ears. The mam in front of you is taken slightly aback as he notices your ears.
You take this opportunity and dash out of there, running like there's no tomorrow. Because as far as you're concerned, there might not be one. The last time something like this happened you got murdered, so you had your reasons to be scared. You really didn't fear anything as badly ever since you came to hell. The only two things you feared were coming across another angel and this. So you kept running, not daring to turn back. The sound of footsteps following you echoed in your ears.
