(Y/N)'s POV
I arrived outside the Waverly Sub Station, waiting for the Russo's to come outside. Checking my watch, I saw I was a bit early so I went and picked up a newspaper on the newsstand and started reading it. Finally they came outside with Max taking up the rear and in an ugly hat.
I started laughing, catching Max's attention, "What's so funny?"
"Your hat!" I replied, still laughing, the both of us not noticing Alex and Justin talking with Brad.
Max smiled, "Oh, you like it? I wanted to try something new," he did a twirl, "What do you think?"
"I think it's cute on you, didn't know the circus was in town," I replied.
He playfully pushed me, "Shut up."
"He's so cute!' I heard Alex finish as she started walking to school, the rest of us following.
I turned to Justin, "What did Max and I just miss?"
He shook his head, "Just Brad being a jerk is all."
I turned to Max, snickering, "I cannot take you seriously in that hat."
He smiled at me, "When have I ever been serious?"
"Never," I replied, continuing ahead to school.

Walking to my locker it started banging open randomly, no wind swinging it. I jumped back in fright then it stopped.
That was weird, I thought to myself, shaking it off as just weird school building things.
Max walked up to me looking a little gloom and asked, "Do you think I look funny in this hat?"
I looked at him, "Well yeah, but-"
"Ugh! I thought you of all people wouldn't think that!" He exclaimed.
I shut my locker, looking at him, "Yeah but you're the same guy I watched wear his shoes backwards for a week straight. I laughed at the hat but I didn't think I hurt your feelings. I thought you were wearing it for a bet or something!"
Max shook his head, "Just forget it."
The bell rang and he went to class, while I headed to mine. I was deep on thought when an idea hit me to make Max feel better.
Walking up to the Russo's apartment, I had to step out of the way of Brad and Mr. Laritate before making it to the door. Knocking on it, I waited nervously before the door opened to reveal Max in his hat and he was about to say 'hi' when he noticed what was on my head.
Max started laughing just about as hard as I did when i saw his hat, except he snorted a bit causing me to start laughing.
"You look ridiculous," Max commented after he finished laughing.
I nodded, "Yeah, it's my mom's, she wore it for the Kentucky Derby when she was invited by a co-worker."
Max and I stared at each other before I spoke, "Look I don't know why you're wearing that hat but I'm sorry if I made you feel bad for wearing it."
"No, I overreacted about it, I'm sorry," Max replied.
Smiling, I said, "Well, for as long as you're wearing your hat I will be wearing mine. Solidarity, my friend."
"Thanks (Y/N)," Max said, bringing me in for a hug.
Once we stopped hugging, he invited me inside for Chinese and entertainment from Hawaiian dancers. Turns out they were for Justin's World Summit home interview that he won. Honestly, best night ever!
