Rain pelted against the 88 hauler as I curled up on the couch in the small office with my laptop opened. I bit my lip knowing I shouldn't be working on personal projects while waiting out a rain delay, but I couldn't help it. Whenever I had any down time, I had my laptop open and my fingers were flying.
I knew NASCAR wasn't going to call the race just yet, so while the crew members played video games, I was going to disappear into the small office and work on my latest project that just happened to involve the one and only Alex Bowman.
I inwardly groaned at the thought of him. The way his firesuit was tailored to his tall, lean body. His perfect smile that makes my heart skip a beat whenever he glances my way. His blue-gray eyes that changed with the weather and that perfect, raspy voice of his that wraps around my soul whenever he said my name.
I was utterly lost when it came to this man and even though I worked side by side with him day in and out, I couldn't let him know that. Alex doesn't look at me like he does at the other girls in the office or even the fangirls that throw themselves at him. So instead, I take my most secret thoughts and desires and turn them into something that has been my only outlet.
Fanfiction.
I've always been a fan of reading stories about my favorite characters in books and even some of my favorite celebrities. When I stumbled upon some NASCAR fanfiction one drunken evening, I couldn't stop myself for creating a new document and writing the filthiest thing I could think of that involved Alex and a steamy shower.
One story led to another and another and now, I'm writing every chance I got. Which is why I'm hiding in the back room writing about how much I wish Alex would fuck my mouth.
"Gwen?" I slammed my laptop shut when the man of my thoughts popped his head into the office. "Whatcha working on?" Alex leaned against the door of the office, the top of his firesuit hanging loose around his waist as he eyeballed my laptop with suspicion.
"Looking for hotel rooms for the guys," it was a lie and I knew he didn't believe me.
"Sure you are." Blush rose to my cheeks and I bit my lip as he entered the office and sat on the opposite end of the couch. "I'm going to catch some zzz's if that's okay?" Alex didn't wait for an answer, instead, he shut the door to the office and then laid himself out fully on the couch, his legs coming to a rest where I was curled up. There was no denying the fact that my heart was pounding loudly out of my chest as he grabbed the end of the blanket I was using and covered himself with the other end.
As Alex's breathing evened out as he fell asleep, I let out a steady breath I didn't realize I was holding.
Slowly, I opened my laptop, saving my scene and went to work to find hotels for the guys here in Daytona because there was no way I could write being so close to Alex right now.
**
I cursed to myself when I couldn't find any more hotel rooms. I somehow convinced majority of the 88 crew to double up and that I'd reward them heavenly with sweets if they didn't give me any shit, but in the process of all of that, I had nowhere to go. I gave my room up thinking I could find something elsewhere, but I couldn't.
