Awaking from your semi-conscious mind your eyes fluttered opened to see his golden pupils gazing down at you. Fingers still interlaced together.
"Morning puppy."
He smirked at the nickname, "morning baby."
You sat up, feeling the puffiness from your crying. Thankful that you had not drunk any wine or a headache would be present.
You slowly raised yourself Sesshomaru did the same. Wary of your space he had been afraid to touch you. Scared you might leave him again.
"(Y/n)...about Akemi-"
"It's ok."
He perked up, "what?"
You embraced him but his arms still stuck to his side. "I can understand that I'm her reincarnation and that may have been the original reason you approached me. But in the end you fell in love with me because I'm different, maybe I do have some of her qualities but you loved me for the unique individual I am it just took me a couple days to realise that."
"C-can I hold you?" The pain was evident in his tone.
"You don't need my permission silly, but of course you can."
His arms enveloped you his cheek nuzzling the top of your head. Tears streamed from the corner of his sockets. Your heart ached at the torment you had put this wonderful man through.
"Sesshomaru I love you." The words seemed to come out with no hesitation.
His own heart bloomed a radiant sensation to his veins. Pure happiness. Unfortunately dread tugged at the strings for another obstacle had yet to be faced.
Although to do that he had to let go of his love for you. Otherwise he would see you in a grave by the end of the day.
"I love you too my dear (Y/n)...but you cannot stay."
He ripped himself from the hug as he felt you grip tighter. "Wait why?!"
His expression was sloemn, "a demon by the name of Jin has returned and wants to kill you. He is the cause of Akemi's death."
You paled, "so if I stay here I die?"
He nodded.
You rubbed your wrist nervously, "but what about you?"
He raised a brow, "what do you mean, What about myself?"
You stared right at him, "what if you die?"
He hadn't expected you to ask that he thought you would listen, would go and save yourself.
A memory racked his brain of Akemi she had turned tail and run. She never asked about his safety...
"Sesshomaru!"
He snapped back to reality, "uh I'll be fine! You on the other hand no, I've already organised for Kagome to take you home incase that Greg shows up."
"You-no!"
He bared his canines, "you are to go with her!"
"I'm staying puppy."
He has to clear his throat to stop from blushing and keep his cold tone. To be cruel might be the only way to make you leave.
"You will only be a nuisance when fighting Jin." It seemed to be working as you furrowed your brow.
"You don't mean that."
"I do if I'm being more honest you are only a burden if I have to protect you."
You sighed, not the reaction he needed. "Look I'll go ok you ARE pretty strong but be careful. There's no need to push me away."
He chewed his lip, "sorry."
You took a step forwards and leaned your head against his and closed your eyes. He copied the action. "I'm not leaving. Not again, I'll be back when you deem it safe, ok?"
He seemed to want to disagree but pecked your cheek and replied with a "ok."
He walked you back to the well, Kagome was there already waiting a sad smile up on her face. A cold sweat lathered your skin as you gripped the edge. Looking back as Kagome jumped down first a soft glow emitting as she vanished back to your time.
Your retinas burned but you held back the water forming. You'd had enough of crying for one day. "Please be careful my puppy."
It took all of Sesshomaru's will not to grab you and hold you. As the glowing light showed your departure.
A snort sounded from behind him, Sesshomaru's eye twitched. "What is so funny brother?"
Inuyasha's mouth contorted into an odd shape. "Oh nothing just the puppy might miss his master."
A retort laid on his tongue but Sango threw her weapon at Inuyasha's head. Giving him an ouchie that he would need to keep ice on for several hours.
Shippo shook his head, "Inuyasha can be really insensitive at times."

Kagome looped her elbow with yours, tugging you along to hers. "I thought we were going to mine?"
Kagome sighed, "not with that Greg back on the scene, I'll give your parents a call and let them know."
"Not about Greg!"
Kagome raised her voice, "again? You need to tell them so he can be put behind bars!"
"When I'm ready I will..."
"You said that last time."
Kagome was a little sour but deep down you knew she understood. But you also realised that she kept looking back to the well as if she was fighting the urge to return.
