"HEY! CLEGANE. CAP WANTS TO SEE YA." Shouted the desk Sargent as detective Sandor Clegane made his way into the precinct.

"What ya done this time big guy?" The Sargent chuckled as Sandor's shoulders dropped. He'd only just walked in and already he was in the shit.

"Nothing that I know of.......... well there was that............oh no wait, I already got in the shit for that one." Sandor huffed, remembering the last time he had to drag his ass in front of the boss.

"Don't worry Sandor, I don't think this meeting is gonna be as bad as ya think." The Sargent said with a knowing smirk, causing the big man to furrow his brow.

"Okay, what the hell is going on?" Sandor growled. He wasn't in the mood for this this morning. He had just finished a stakeout on this suspected murderer and hadn't slept for what felt like days; all he wanted was several large drinks and to sleep for a week.

"Look, I'd get ya ass in that office if I were you, the Cap has been waiting for ya."

Sandor shuffled off, stopping at the coffee machine to grab a dose of caffeine before he had to face the wrath of Captain Lannister; the Cap my have been a little guy but when he was screaming in your face, it was like he was ten feet tall.

Sandor Clegane was a good cop; a little reckless and unconventional, but a good cop. It wasn't just the fact that he was large and intimidating, although that did help, it was the fact that under his rough, tough and gruff exterior he had a heart of gold with a strong moral base.

He'd joined the police academy as soon as he left high school and had been at the same precinct since he graduated; Sandor had been there that long he was part of the fixtures and fittings, and no tour of the precinct was complete without an introduction to the large man.

Reluctantly Sandor knocked on Captain Lannister's door.

"Come in!" Came back a voice. Well he doesn't sound mad, hopefully that's a good sign, Sandor thought to himself as he turned the handle and pushed his way in.

"Ah Clegane, nice oh you to grace us with your presence. Please take a seat." Captain Lannister said, indicating towards the chair on the other side of his desk.

Now Sandor was worried, the Cap was never usually this calm when he was in his office, admittedly there was normally a good reason for the Cap to be pissed at him, but the smile on the Cap's face was making Sandor a little nervous.

"When was the last time you had a partner Sandor?" The Cap asked, leaning back on his chair, a small smile on his face.

"Er.... A year ago, Steve McDonald. Put in for a transfer when he couldn't hack it here." Sandor said, remembering the last useless prick that he had been forced to work with.

It wasn't that he was averse to the idea of a partner, it was just that he seemed to get stuck with every moron that made their way into the precinct. McDonald was useless, and Sandor couldn't understand how he had even graduated the academy, never mind been accepted into one of the toughest precincts in the tristate county area.

"Well that's all going to change today." The Cap said with a smile.

Sandor could feel himself shudder at the notion of having to deal with another useless moron.

"Sandor I'd like you to meet your new partner."

Sandor suddenly saw a hand before him, as he followed it up, his eyes fell on the face of a smiling woman.

"Sandor Clegane. I'd like you to meet detective (y/f/n) (y/l/n), she's just transferred in from LA."

Sandor looked up at her, she was definitely the best looking partner that had ever been forced on him, but still.

"Er, not to sound rude or nuthin but it gets pretty bad out there, are ya sure you know what ya letting yourself in for?" Sandor asked, watching as the woman's expression turned from a smile to a scowl.

"Oh believe me "detective", I think I'm perfectly capable of handling myself."

Captain Lannister couldn't help but chuckle at the exchange.

"Yes well, I'm busy, so why don't you two go and get to know one another? Sandor, why don't you take (Y/n) for a cup of the best coffee in the city, cos god knows the shit from the machine, I wouldn't even wash my socks in it."

Shooing the pair out of the office, Sandor reluctantly showed the new detective to a coffee shop around the corner from the precinct that seemed to be entirely frequented by cops. As the pair moved into one of the empty booths (Y/n) just had to ask.

"Are you always so god damn grumpy or is it just me?" She asked the dower looking Sandor who just grumbled.

"Okay, lets cut the bullshit. I am here to stay whether you like it or not big guy; you don't intimidate me, you don't scare me, and you sure as hell ain't going to make me leave, because believe it or not, I've dealt with bigger and badder than you; so you better get used to the idea of having me as your partner." She scolded, making him look up from the coffee in his hand. He wasn't used to anyone having the balls to address him in such a way, and he found it quite intriguing.

"Now, if you want to know what you're getting as a partner I'll tell you." (Y/n) said as she leaned over the table so that the two were nearly face to face.

"I majored in law and criminology in college coming top of my class. As soon as I graduated, I joined the academy. From there I started working for the DEA and stayed with them for six years until I moved to work with the Major Crimes Division in LA. Tyrion is an old family friend, and when he heard that I was interested in a move to New York, he offered me a job. So here I am. I'm and excellent shot, I live on my own, and I'm dedicated to my job." (Y/n) said, finally leaning back in her seat.

Sandor couldn't help but be secretly impressed, not only was the woman before him beautiful, but she also had brains to back it up; and he was aware of the work that the DEA and MCD did, so for once he would have a partner that could look after themselves.

"Not bad I suppose." Sandor huffed, trying to seem unimpressed.

(Y/n) couldn't help but laugh as she saw the slight sparkle in her new partners eyes.

"I heard the guys in the precinct call you the 'Hound', why's that." She asked, taking a drink of the coffee in her hand.

"They just think they're fuckin funny. The last Captain before Lannister was a dick called Joffrey, he had me doing every dirty job you can imagine, it was like I was following him around like a dog follows his master, so the boys took to calling me his hound, and it sort of stuck." Sandor explained, staring into the black liquid in his cup.

Sandor felt a warm soft hand on his and looked up to see (Y/n)'s smiling face.

"You know, I'd like to think they called you that more because of your dogged determination. From what I read in your file you don't let go of something unless its solved; I think that's admirable. Unfortunately, I've worked with some cops who just seem to give up when it all gets too hard, but you seem to come into your own when things get tough. I will be proud to say that you're my partner, Sandor."

Sandor's eyes widened as she spoke, no one had ever said anything like that to him before, and here she was, having only just met him, and despite him being gruff with her she was impressed by what he did. He watched as she rose from the booth and made her way to the door, he couldn't help but watch her ass as she walked away,

"Well! Are we gonna bust some heads Clegane, or are you just gonna ogle my ass all day?" (Y/n) asked with a smile as she waited at the door for him to follow.

Gulping down the last of his coffee, he rushed out of the coffee shop to join her. Maybe having a new partner wouldn't be so bad after all.
