"I don't understand why we all have to show up every time Stark throws one of his parties. Sometimes I feel like we're all damn zoo animals. Here for the amusement of the tin can's rich friends. I don't know about you guys. But I can think of a million things I would rather be doing." Clint huffed to the others, as they watched Tony schmooze all the cities great, good, bad, and exceptionally rich.

Clint was right, of course. The rest of the team wouldn't necessarily say it out loud, but they too sometimes felt as though they were there just so Tony could impress everyone. Feeling like they were a pedigree dog, or some kind of exotic animal that the billionaire could show off, and brag about.

"Oh yeah. And what else would you be doing tonight?" Sam chuckled, as he placed another shot of vodka in front of the archer.

"Well, I was actually going to cut my toenails. Hell, even having my legs waxed would be better than this." Clint joked. The others laughing as they joined him in downing their shots.

"Although...........I might have just changed my mind." Clint suddenly said. Sitting up straighter in his chair as the door to the elevator opened. A new guest walking out into the throng of people.

"Wow! I think that you might just be right." Sam chipped in. As he too sat up a little straighter in his seat. Trying to get a better look at the new mystery woman that was dressed in a well-tailored Savile Row suit.

"Holy smoke. I've never seen her at one of these things before. Who do you think she is?" Bucky mussed out loud. As he, Steve, and Bruce, joined Sam and Clint at staring at the woman that seemed to be looking for someone.

"I don't know. But it looks like Rhodey and Fury know who she is." Nat noted, as she rolled her eyes at the boy's antics. The lot of them acting like they hadn't seen a woman before.

                                                          >>-------------------------------<<

"Good evening Rhodey. Director Fury. It is a pleasure to see you both again." The woman said. Shaking Fury's hand, and then kissing Rhodey affectionally on the cheek.

"(Y/n). It's so good to see you. It's been to long." Rhodey replied, as he took her into his arms. The two hugging.

"Well Colonel. It's nice to see you too." (Y/n) chuckled, as she looked her old friend up and down.

"Does he know I'm here?" (Y/n) asked the two men, as she looked out into the party. Her eyes scanning the guests for a familiar face.

"Er.......... well. He doesn't know it's you. He knows that the founder and CEO of Pandora Enterprises is coming this evening. But.......well, we never really got around to telling him your name." Rhodey explained. (Y/n) laughing as she realised that her presence was going to be quite a shock to her old nemesis.

"Oh Rhodey. I thought that tonight was going to be boring. But now, well now, knowing that Stark doesn't know I am here. Is just going to make this one of the best nights ever." (Y/n) continued to laugh as she took the Colonel by the arm.

"Now. Before I get to enjoy making Stark's life misery once again. Why don't you introduce me to these Avenger friends of yours? I am most interested to meet them. Particularly Doctor Banner. I am fascinated by his work." (Y/n) said, as she let Rhodey lead her into the party. Fury watching as they made their way over to the others. The director of S.H.I.E.L.D smiling to himself as he waited for the fireworks.

                                                        >>----------------------------------<<

"Everyone." Rhodey called out as he came up to the team. The boys all trying to pretend that they hadn't already been watching him and the mystery woman.

"I would like to introduce you to an old friend of mine. This is Professor (Y/f/n) (Y/l/n), the founder and CEO of Pandora Enterprises. (Y/n) has agreed to come and aid the government as well as S.H.I.E.L.D, with some new technologies that her company has been developing. And in fact, she even has a few ideas for new weaponry for you guys." Rhodey announced, as (Y/n) stepped forward and nodded respectfully.

"Pandora? As in the Greek legend?" Clint asked, as he got up and shook the beautiful professor's hand.

"Indeed. But unlike the legend, when I open the box, all the evils of the world run back in and hide." (Y/n) chuckled, as she smiled at the archer.

"Ah. Doctor Banner. Such a pleasure to finally meet you. I have wanted to discuss your work with you for some time. I find it quite fascinating." (Y/n) said. The others crowding around Rhodey as (Y/n) and Bruce began to speak.

"Well? Who is she?" Sam asked. Taking the words out of everyone else's mouths.

"It's a long story." Rhodey began. Watching as his old friend chuckled at whatever Bruce had just said.

"We have all night Rhodey. The story has to be better than this party." Clint replied. Pushing for information on the exquisite woman.

"Ok. So, Stark and I first met (Y/n) at MIT years ago. Unlike Tony, (Y/n) was just from a normal family. They weren't rich or powerful, or anything like that. But (Y/n) was recognised from a very young age as being exceptionally gifted in a number of fields. Her work in electronics, computing, and robotics saw her receive a full scholarship to MIT when she was just 12. She had a Fulbright scholarship for the last year of her studies, and graduated summa cum laude when she was 16. The only thing is.......well she had to share that accolade with a certain Anthony Edward Stark. The two were rivals from the day they met. The pair of them always trying to outdo one another. Tony would win one competition, then (Y/n) would win the next. It was the ultimate battle of wits. And when I say that they hated one another. I mean that they really hated one another. See, the two of them were completely different. Tony was, well Tony was Tony. He had the money, the name, the influence. The good time guy that always had a drink in one hand, and a girl in the other. (Y/n) on the other hand was studious. She would spend hours with her head in a book or building something in one of the labs, not caring for the parties, or the social life. And Tony liked to tease her about it. Sometimes he even took it a little far, in my opinion. Calling her mousy and boring. Telling her that she wouldn't amount to anything. But (Y/n) would always get her own back somehow and took a great delight in telling Tony that she had achieved all he had, and more, without needing the Stark name, or the money. And that she was 16 and he 17 when they graduated. When she left MIT, she continued to work in the robotics and technology fields, getting her doctorate when she was 19. And then became a professor a few years later. She founded Pandora a couple of years ago, and they've been producing amazing technology ever since. So, now you know." Rhodey explained, as the boys turned to look at (Y/n).

"You are telling me, that that exquisite creature, is the chink in the old tin can's armour?" Clint asked. A huge smile spreading across his face.

"I suppose you could say that. I would describe them more as arch-rival." Rhodey replied. His mind going back to all the near battles that (Y/n) and Tony had had.

"And you brought her here? Does Stark know?" Bucky asked. His smile growing as broad as the archers.

"(Y/n) and her company will be a great asset. And well, no. Tony knows that the CEO of Pandora will be here tonight. That they will be helping him, you guys, and S.H.I.E.L.D. He just doesn't know that that CEO is (Y/n)." Rhodey continued. Bucky, Sam and Clint unable to stop themselves from laughing.

"Oh, I'm glad I came now. This is gonna be fun." Sam laughed out.

"Yep. It was worth giving up a night of cutting my toenails to see big shot Iron Man brought down a peg or two." Clint added, as he looked around the crowd for the man in question.

"And here come the fireworks." Bucky chimed in. As they all watched Tony make his way over. All hoping that the furniture was repulsor ray proof.

"You guys look happy. What did I miss?" Tony asked, as he looked at Bucky, Clint and Sam trying to stifle their amusement.

"Nothing. We just met an old friend of yours that's all." Clint commented. Tony looking at Rhodey as the boys parted ways, letting the billionaire see the back of the woman that was talking to Bruce.
