Trixie's POV
"Trixie?" I turned to see Shea running towards me.
"Hey."
"Hey, what's up?"
"Nothing."
"That's cool."
"Did you need something?" I stopped at my locker and opened it, putting away my books.
"No, no. I just wanted to talk to you really. I miss my best friend." I sighed as I put my science book in my locker.
"Wanna have lunch with me?"
"Really?"
"Yeah. We haven't spoken in a while so I think it'll be nice."
"That sounds great."
"Good." I closed my locker and smiled at Shea. "I usually eat outside in the grass."
"We can do that."
"Cool." Shea and I walked out of the school towards the huge tree by the football field.
"So, how have you been?"
"I've been okay, how about you?"
"Good. I am picking up my prom dress today."
"Ooh I can't wait to see it."
"Wait, you're going?"
"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. I decided to go."
"That is great Trixie. Are you going with Milk?"
"Uh not exactly."
"Then who?"
"Katya."
"Hmm."
"Just hmm?"
"Well yeah."
"Why not more? You always have more to say."
"I mean, I'm happy that you two are talking."
"Yeah, me too."
"You don't sound too happy."
"I just, it's weird to think about."
"What is?" Shea and I sat in the grass under the large tree. I leaned against the tree and closed my eyes.
"The fact that she is back Shea. I am happy, don't get me wrong. But my life just fell apart after she left."
"Well, how do you feel now that she is back?"
"Happy? Upset? Pissed? Angry?"
"Those are a lot of emotions. Are all of those because of Katya?"
"Not exactly. They are more because of how shit played out. Like I just feel like maybe all of that stuff shouldn't have happen. I loved having all of Katya's attention and what not but maybe it was a mistake to get involved."
"Are you saying that because that is how you really felt or because you want to try and cover the pain? The fact that you fell in love with someone who you weren't supposed to love?"
"I don't know." I rested my head on my knees and looked at Shea. She had a small smile on her face. The face that a parent puts on when they listen to their child talk about how they never want to find love again. The look of 'you poor baby.'
"Well, I think you two need to figure this out before prom. I feel like you both deserve to have the time of your lives. Unsaid feelings can be a real party stopper."
"What would I even say?"
"Katya, I missed you. Katya, I was too stupid to tell you that I loved you. Something like that."
"I could say those things a million times and not get anywhere."
"Well, fine then. Lay it all out then. Tell her about how it fell apart, tell her how you still want to be more. Tell her that you want her to call you hers Trixie. There is no other place to go now but up because you can't fall anymore girl. Take the jump okay?"
"What about Milk?"
"I actually wanted to talk to you about that.."
"What?"
"He lied to Katya."
"When?"
"The night of that party. He went to her house before you got there. He told her about the conversation you had with Kim and I. He changed a few things though and left some stuff out."
"What did he say Shea?" I could feel anger causing my heart to race, my blood to boil, my mind to become blurry.
"He told her that you said you didn't wanna waste your time with someone who didn't want a relationship. That you wanted better."
"He what?!" I stood up and looked down at Shea.
"Trixie, sit back down."
"No, fuck that." I turned on my heels and walked towards the football field.
"Trixie, where are you going?"
"To talk to him."
"Shit." I could hear Shea running behind me. "Trixie, think about this!"
"No, I am tired of thinking. Fuck him and his shit!" I walked on the football field as the guys were practicing. One of Milk's friends was sitting on the ground on his phone. "Where is Milk?"
"Oh shit hey Trixie. He's over there talking to some chick."
"Thank you." I picked up a bottle of green Gatorade and opened it as I walked towards Milk. He was smiling as he talked to one of the cheerleaders. "Milk!" Milk turned and still wore that smile.
"Hey baby doll. What's up?"
"I don't know you tell me what's up. Shea told me what you did."
"What are you talking about?"
"The shit you pulled to get with me." Milk looked around nervous as his friends had gathered around us.
"Trixie, baby now is not the time for this."
"Then when is the time? Because you never have time for anything that doesn't boost your frail ego."
"Trixie.."
"Oh, you don't want your friends to know that the only way you could get with me was it lie to Katya? Telling her that I didn't want to waste my time with her?! You waited until I was sad and crying my eyes out to make your move. You are nothing but a momma's boy who just wants someone to stroke your damn ego. Well guess what Milk? I'm not doing that for you. I am done with you! We are through." I turned around and started to walk away when Milk said something.
"Oh so are you gonna just go back to being a fling? Wasting your time with her?" I turned back around slowly and smiled. I looked Milk in his eyes and calmly poured the Gatorade over his head.
"The only person I was wasting my time with..was you buddy. Goodbye Milk." I threw the bottle at his feet and walked away.
"Trixie, are you okay?"
"I feel better." Shea put her arm in mine and laughed with me as we walked back to the school.
