3|Sour memories

Six months ago

"Come on guys! Let's go for lunch", said Jennifer , as she lead her group of Ava, Amanda, Ruby , June and Jessie towards the canteen to their usual place.

" I'M GOING TO HOST A BIRTHDAY PARTY THIS SATURDAY" ,squealed Amanda.

"That's great Mandy, whom are you going to invite?", Jennifer asked.

"Obviously you guys and a few of dad's friends"

" Great!"

"I don't want you though.", Amanda mumbled out the last part.

*TIMESKIP TO FRIDAY EVENING*

Their was a huge and terrible fire in the town's only factory and where most of the men worked. Ava's dad was sleeping on the couch inside the factory when the fire had started, unaware of his surroundings. He soon woke up when it started getting hot and the toxic smoke he was breathing burnt his throat.

June's dad was a firefighter and was present over their helping out when he heard the screams of Ava's dad.

He rushed inside to save him and pushed him out of the buliding, but couldn't save himself when a large , burning, wooden beam fell upon him.

*TIMESKIP TO MONDAY MORNING*

Jenny's group was gathered at the lunch table , except for June.

No one was touching their food. It seemed as if everyone had lost their appetites.

"I feel horrible to what happened with June's father. I hope she's doing okay.", said Amanda, poking her mashed potatoes around which made a gross sound that could melt anyone's ears according to Jenny.

"Yeah. That fire was a nasty and terrible one", said Ruby.

"I'm sure everything will be fine soon" Jennifer commented.

"I hope so.", said Jessie.

Jennifer took out her new phone to call June, so everyone could talk to her. "Guys, do you know how to connect to internet through this. My phone is new so I don't really-"

Amanda stood up, "Seriously Jenny? Even after the fire you're trying to show off your new phone? Don't you care even a bit about anyone. Everyone look at this heartless girl."

Jennifer stood up."What the hell? I was calling June. Do you even know what happened? Seriously Mandy? Shut up and sit down-"

"Oh no we are not sitting with you. Come on girls let's go." Amanda was always jealous of Jenny because everyone loved her so much. She knew that she had done nothing wrong, but to be the leader of their friends group and to be popular, she could do anything.

Jennifer's face immediately turned pale. "Guys no, please sit down-"

"Shut up Jennifer. We don't talk to selfish girls.", Ruby cut her. A heavy silence hung in the cafeteria , the kind of silence that presses against the eardrums, that seems too huge to be contained by walls.

June didn't have even a single clue of what happened that day but heard that Jenny had made fun of her dad's death. So, she didn't talk to her either,even though she couldn't believe it.
