Daniel helped Helga to make the lemon tarts and gooey vanilla pudding while I helped mom chop the vegetables and make the salad.
"So are you kids excited to go to the carnival?", Helga asked in her British accent. For some reason I always found it very soothing.
Oh yeah. The carnival. I totally forgot about it. I was supposed to meet June and Ava over there, which I certainly am not going to.
"Yeah pretty much", Daniel mumbles.
"Well I would have been excited. I've heard that the Ferris Wheel is magical and once you reach the top, you make a wish and it becomes true!", she tells us excitedly.
"Well.. it kind of is true Helga. When I was in middle school, I had made a wish hoping that we would go to the petting zoo for our class fieldtrip, and my wish came true.", I remarked.
"Hmm..that it wonderful Jenny."
"Yeah", I murmured distractedly. I was too busy thinking of someone else.
When we were done cooking, mom made me set the table and Daniel had to fold the napkins neatly.
I was still in the clothes that I wore to school, so I decided to wear something better as I was going to the carnival.
So I trudged back upstairs to my room. I sighed in content as I looked around my room. The melon pink walls perfectly matched with my black coloured comforter, white coloured bed sheets and my cream coloured fur rug.The coffee coloured wooden study table, which was in the corner of the room was set up neatly and my dresser was also looking tidy and pretty with all the different shades of nail polish in small glass bottles arranged in rainbow order and all my makeup neatly arranged in rows inside my drawers. This just make me feel extremely satisfied.
I walked towards my closet, deciding what to wear. I chose something pretty but casual. It was a black glittery sweater with denim jeans and my black Vans shoes. I grabbed my phone to see if I had any texts and I did have one from...Jay?

"Mrs Jones how are you doing?", one of the investors asked politely.
"Please call me Natasha.I'm doing good! How are you all doing? Please come inside.", mom welcomed them in.
"Oh these are your kids Natasha? I never thought they would be this old. You look pretty young!" One of them said, making me feel old. I'm fifteen! I'm gonna call this guy old man from now on. Suddenly I caught my mom's gaze who narrowed her eyes at me, hinting me to introduce myself. So I sprang into action.
"Hello..everyone I am Jennifer and this is my brother Daniel.", I introduced myself and flashed a sweet smile. After they greeted us we went towards the dining room to have dinner. Honestly, it felt pretty awkward with these people sitting with us and having dinner. We were supposed to act polite while eating with them, but Daniel started slurping his spaghetti causing everyone to look towards him and he looked like he didn't even care. He had sauce all over his mouth, you know the typical way brothers eat?Mom looked clearly embarrassed because she had turned as red as her spaghetti. She cleared her throat which gained the attention of the gang of the old man and they started up a conversation.
After desert Daniel and I sprang up from our seats and went to the mud room to wear our shoes.
"Bye mom! We are going to the carnival."Daniel said.
"Alright kids, enjoy your time and stick together! We will also be there in while."
I walked out and gently shut the door behind me. The crunching of the autumn leaves was the only sound to be heard as we walked in silence. The breeze blew gently leaving a trail of goosebumps on my arms.I slid my hand into the pocket of my jeans, feeling the crisp tickets that mom had given me for the carnival.
I looked up at the sky to see the sun setting. The sky was lit in a flame of red, orange and yellow that set the white clouds ablaze. The birds were like dots in the huge red sky which resembled pieces of charcoal in a fire. I heard some excited chatting and looked around to see a group of girls around Daniel's age jumping excitedly and talking about how they couldn't wait to get to the carnival. I inhaled deeply and looked towards the ground.A silent tear manages to slip from my eye and rolled down my cheek until I felt a small hand slip in mine. I turn to my left to see Daniel looking at me sorrowfully.
"Are you crying? I'm really sorry about the supermarket thing. I was just hyped.", he comforted me gently.
"No I'm not crying. And it's not about that.", I deny wiping my tears.
"I know you miss your friends. If you want you can hang out with me and my friends at the carnival! They really love you ya' know? They think you are really cool. I think you're cool too.", he told me.
"Thanks Daniel...wait what? You think I'm cool? Really? I thought you hated me!", I exclaimed in fake disbelief.
"Not really. I just don't want to be too kind to you. After all it's my duty to annoy you, isn't it?", he smirked.
I shoved him playfully and we made our way towards the carnival.

I gave the security guard our tickets and we got the back of our hands stamped. I quickly grabbed Daniel's hand not wanting to lose him in the huge crowd.
"So where are you going to meet your friends?", I asked him.
"At the ghost train ride!"
"Whoa! Aren't you scared?", I asked in fake disbelief.
"I'm not a baby!"
"Well last time you wet your pan-"
"Stop it Jenny!", he whined, obviously flustered. I started chuckling.
"Well here's fifty dollars to spend. If you need more just call me through one of your friends phones alright?"
"Yeah. Bye Jenny!", he waved and ran off towards the ghost train ride
Woah, it feels weird to be nice to your brother.
I was craving a candied apple so I made my towards the stall and got in the queue.
The line was huge so I started looking around, until I froze and my eyes met his.
Jay.
