I scoffed at the memory. Why was I suddenly being nostalgic? I scoffed again but stopped when the guy in front of me threw me a scary look. He must've been thinking I was coughing way too much.

The guy was huge with a navy blue beanie put on carelessly on his head, a few jet black strands of hair visible. The most scary part was his face. It had multiple scars on it. One of his eyes was a stormy grey and one of them was blue and shaped like a rose. In all he was an intimidating guy that you would never want to meet in a dark alley alone. I realised I was staring at him for way too long when he started frowning at me. I quickly looked away and stared at the ground until I felt a pair of eyes burning holes into the side of my head. I looked up to see Jay staring at me again. Again? Was he thinking about...

One week ago

I hummed along to the song blasting through my headphones. I moved my legs along to the beat. Thankfully there was no one around to judge me and my funky dance steps. Suddenly, my sixth sense tingled and I looked ahead to see a boy running at full speed in my direction, a panicked expression on his face.

I expected him to fly dash past me, but he skidded to a stop right where I was standing. He had curly dark brown hair, pink lips, and warm brown eyes, all of them very familiar to me.

"Jay?"

"Hey," he smiled, "are you busy?"

I narrowed my eyes at him in suspicion. We haven't had a proper conversation in a long time, so I was extremely surprised and not to mention his panicked tone.

"Um, I'm actually on my way somewhere-"

"Can I kiss you?" He asked abruptly, his eyes wide as if the question was nothing more than a daily phrase.

What the hell? I stepped back, and gave him a weird look. I wanted him to say it was a joke, and that I was being pranked, but he seemed very serious.

"No thanks," I declined

"I'm in a bit of a problem," he pouted, Just one kiss, please!!"

He turned around, as if looking for someone, and then turned right back around with a frightened expression. I couldn't tell if he had finally cracked or was just romantically desperate. He could be either one of them, or both of them.

"Look," I started, "This is very random. You haven't talked to me and now you just-."

He looked behind him a second time, but this time whatever he saw was apparently troublesome, because he grabbed my waist and pulled me towards him sharply. I squealed but he muffled it by crashing his lips onto me. My eyes were stuck open with surprise and I was too shocked to do anything. I managed to put my hands between our chests and distanced myself from him

"What the hell?" I spat out, wiping stray saliva off with the sleeve of my hoodie. Jay didn't seem to care about what he just did, in fact he seemed very relaxed.

He suddenly broke the silence, "Is that Piña Colada I taste?

"Miss.. miss!", an annoyed voice broke me out of my thoughts and I finally broke Jay's gaze that I held onto for so long and turned around to look at the guy at the stall who looked around my age and had a bored expression on his face.

"Ma'am the others are waiting so please order what you want. You are here to order something right?", he threw me another annoyed expression.

"Uh.. yeah..a bag of churros with the chocolate sauce please.", I spoke blushing deeply because of embarrassment and ordered the first thing I saw.

"That would be $2.50 please.", he handed me the churros and flashed me a forced smile.

I quickly paid him the money and looked towards where Jay was, but he seemed to have vanished into thin air. A text ping broke me from my chain of thoughts.

Ava- Hey I hope you are at the carnival by now. See you at the Ferris wheel at midnight.

Why hadn't I blocked these two yet?
