Chapter 36.
Los Angeles.
A month later.

Klaus was seated behind the desk in his company office, going over some production

reports when his personal assistant tapped on the door and poked her head inside.

Frowning at the intrusion Klaus snapped, "What is it?"

"There's a gentleman here to see you. Well actually two gentlemen and an officer."

Klaus stiffened, "Do you mean to say that the police are here?"

The frightened young woman nodded.

"Keep them waiting." Klaus instructed and immediately got on the phone with his lawyer's assistant.

"This is Klaus von Hapsberg." He said knowing that his name alone would be enough to get his lawyer's attention.

"Good morning Klaus.
What can I do for you today?" Roger Smith asked.

"I'm in trouble Roger and it's imperative that you come to my office at once."

"Klaus?
I'm right in the middle of taking a witness's deposition.
She's here in my office right now.  Roger said.

A moment later the door opened and in walked Detective Bobby Mack accompanied by a police officer.

"I need you here right now!" Klaus shouted into the telephone and slammed the headset down.

He was shaking inside although one couldn't see it on his face as
he coolly scrutinized the two men through narrowed, sea green eyes.

"I never allow visitors inside of my office without an appointment." Klaus said.

Bobby Mack said casually, "Hello Mr.von Hapsberg. I'm sure that you remember me."

"How can I forget you?" Klaus asked, striving to remain calm. "Why are you here?"

Instead of addressing his question Bobby whipped a document from

the inside pocket of his jacket and read from the arrest warrant,

"Klaus von Hapsberg, we're taking you in for questioning about your involvement in the attempted murder of Rozelle Hermosa last year."

Klaus's eyes widened ever so slightly and his hand jerked on the desk top. Quickly smoothing out his guilty expression he said,

"I can assure you gentleman that I haven't the slightest idea of what you're talking about."

Bobby's patience was wearing thin and he was still irritated about having to be kept waiting in this rich prick's reception area even though it had been beautifully appointed and air conditioned.

"You don't want to upset me right now Mr.von Hapsberg." He said."Either come peacefully or we'll drag you out."

"Drag me out?" Klaus repeated with an amused smile,"How barbaric and unnecessary."

Plastering an unconcerned smile on his face Klaus, serenely arose

from behind the desk and stepped around it with his hands in the air.

"There is no need for violence gentlemen, but you are making a terrible mistake.

My lawyer is going to crucify your entire department."

"Are you threatening me?" Bobby was standing in Klaus's face with his fists balled up at his sides.

The other detective said, "Detective Mack? Please back off."

Bobby took a deep breath and stepped away from Klaus who

was smiling at him as if daring him to do something.

"Let's get this filth cuffed." The other detective said with a nod at the officer who hurried toward Klaus with the steel handcuffs out.

"Turn around." He commanded in a gruff voice and then read him his rights as he snapped the handcuffs around Klaus's wrists.

They pinched, however Klaus was much too proud to complain.

He had a brief and unpleasant memory of using these same type of handcuffs on Rozelle and now it was his turn to experience what

it felt like to be shackled and totally at some one else's mercy and Klaus discovered that it wasn't a very pleasant feeling.

"I have one request." He said, turning to look at the Detectives.

Bobby raised his brows and wondered what this entitled jerk wanted now.

"Would you at least allow me the courtesy of covering these
handcuffs with my jacket before parading me out in front of my office staff?"

Bobby personally got the jacket of Klaus's dove gray Armani suit and flung it over Klaus's wrists.

"Thank you." He said in a dignified tone.

The officer walked on one side of Klaus while Bobby walked on the other as he was escorted out the

door and as they passed through the main floor, his employees all paused in their work to gape at the dignified figure of their Boss being lead outside by the cops.

Klaus walked with his head held high and a disdainful sneer on his handsome face.

Six weeks later..

Katrina hired the best divorce attorney which meant the most expensive and proceeded with her

plans to divorce her husband who had been extradited to King John's county to await trial.

She decided to take a long break from acting and focus on her sons who now lived with her at the

country estate and to her immense relief, the children didn't seem to miss their Father at all and life went on, although things would never be quite the same.

Sean mourned for Rozelle a long time but ultimately decided to go on with his life.

He moved back to Washington, got his old job back at the hospital and tentatively, began dating again.

Theo and Maria eventually got over their aversion for each other and realized that they had a lot in common.

Theo taught her how to ride a dirt bike and they could be seen
racing each other on the track at Grangers bike club on any given Saturday night.

D.D went to business school and now owns a successful cleaning service in Los Angeles.

Her friend, Tracy Summers, eventually left the escort service and started modeling full time.

Victor Ambrose married his fiancee although he never forgot his love for Rozelle. 

Bobby Mack and his girlfriend Dana are still going strong although marriage isn't on the horizon for them just yet.

The media had a field day with the trial of Klaus von Hapsberg who as it turned out, was found

guilty of fraud, extortion and the conspiracy to commit murder in the case of Rozelle Hermosa Nichols.

He was sentenced to fifteen years in prison and is currently working on an appeal with a new lawyer after firing the old one.

Whew! I'm glad this story is done and the last few chapters might seem rushed so please forgive me for that.

Perhaps I'll go back and flesh these chapters out a little at a later date.

I do plan on writing the third and last installment at an even later date, if I decide that a third book is necessary.
