tsukishima and your relationship was the definition of a love-hate relationship though ultimately, it was all in good fun. the things he said to you were almost never taken seriously and vice versa. the two of you often bickered with one another but it would almost always in you two embracing one another.

however, there was a few times where the arguments were taken too far. a few times where his words genuinely hurt you. like the time where he said how you were always so clingy and afraid of losing him which is why you're so involved with everything he does. that, haunts you.

or the other time where he called you a dumbass. or that time he called you stupid. or that one time where he got extremely frustrated with you and told you to 'fuck off' because you were distracting him.

it was those moments in the relationship that led you to question why you were so in love with this tall, arrogant prick.

you were so head over heels in love with tsukishima, you forgave him and he, for the majority of the times, apologized. still, it did hurt you when he said such things.

the boys had a break day so no practice after school. tsukishima and you often walked each other home and this time, you were joined by yamaguchi as well.

yamaguchi is always very supportive and he was always there when you needed someone to talk to after an argument with tsukishima. sometimes, you wish you had dated yamaguchi over the middle blocker.

"kei? how was school?" you asked, smiling at your boyfriend. he had half his earbud in, humming quietly to his tunes. his golden eyes were drew to you the moment his name slipped out of your mouth.

"fine," he responded simply and returned to listening to his music. his simple response disheartened you, a frown laced your lips as your eyes drifted to the ground.

yamaguchi noticed this almost immediately and gently tapped tsukishima who shot a glare at his friend. yamaguchi, not fazed, gestured to you who's eyes were still glued to the concrete that you threw walked upon.

tsukishima cleared his throat and looked at you, "how was your day?" he grumbled quietly but you were able to make out his quietness. "it was average... oh! but! you've gotta hear this kei, so hinata was messing around with me earlier right? so i decided to prank him and i placed a bucket of water on top of the homeroom doors and he fell for it! it was hilarious!"

you said excitedly, laughing at the story and so did yamaguchi. though tsukishima didn't seem that amused. "serves that idiot right," he said in response to your story and quickly returned to listening to his music.

you frowned again and remained quiet for the rest of the walking and even yamaguchi went silent.

tsukishima and you said goodbye to yamaguchi who went the opposite direction down the street which left the two of you alone. you swore- you could hear your heart beating loudly in the silence.

"oi,"

your eyes widened and you slowly lifted your head to meet your boyfriend's eyes. "y-yes kei?" you said, slightly taken aback. his eyes seemed to glow in the darkening skies.

"what's the matter?" he said softly, his eyes scanning your face for any sort of answer. you blushed, "h-huh?"

tsukishima scoffed and rolled his eyes, "what is the matter? yama told me that you were having some issues." curse that yamaguchi-

"o-oh well..." you looked down nervously, pulling on your clothes gently to take your mind off the ever growing anxiety in the back of your mind. "i just,"

"is it about me?"

you froze and tsukishima got his answer. he sighed softly and slowly knelt to your level. suddenly, you felt his arms wrap around you. "im such an asshole, im sorry." your eyes widened and you returned the hug. you opened your mouth but tsukishima cut you off,

"you must hate me right? im such a jerk to you. you deserve someone better, someone... like yama-"

"stop putting yourself down!" you scolded him, frowning at your boyfriend. tsukishima's eyes widened as you suddenly press your lips against his, a blush grew across his face.

as you pulled away, tsukishima smirked at you and softly chuckled, "god what would i do without you?" you rolled your eyes, "continue to be a jerk to everyone on this planet?"

tsukishima rolled his eyes and chuckled, "probably," he suddenly press his warm hand against your cheek and gently stroked it. slowly, his lips caved in and your lips met. it was brief but it brought you a sense of warmth and happiness. though the delicate, sweet moment was untimely ended.

your stomach loudly growls, interrupting him which cause you to flush, embarrassed. tsukishima smirk teasingly at you and gently pokes your cheeks, "awh... is (y/n) hungry?"

you swatted his hand away, "s-shuddup!" you blushed, looking away from him. tsukishima chuckled and stood up, "does ongiris sound okay?" you huffed and nodded. tsukishima helped you up and the two of you walked through the night, chatting about your day and heading off to the local onigiri shop.
