(( okay the korean in this is completely romanized bc my korean is not that amazing and im still learning soO yeah ))

"h-hello! im (l/n) (y/n)... and i will be uh, joining you guys today from n-now on..."

you stuttered out in japanese, standing before a class of complete strangers. your heart was pounding against your ribcage before your home room teacher smiled and gestured you to sit by the window, near the back. the students stared at you in awe, some were amazed, some were excited and some really didn't give a crap.

but oh boy, you piqued the interest of oikawa tooru.

oikawa raised his hand to speak, the home room teacher called on him. "where are you from (l/n)-chan?" he smirked at you, causing you to flush and look down in shyness.

"ah- uhm... k-korea... south korea..."

oikawa whistled, smiling at you. you glanced up briefly at the brown haired male, making eye contact before he flirtatiously winked at you. your eyes drifted back down to the floor, a very scarlet blush across your face.

"(l/n)-san? how about you sit next to oikawa?"

how lucky, you got to sit right beside the famed womanizer although you didn't know better since you had just started school here at aoba johsai.

your parents worked as project managers for this international company and were just promoted to the head project managers. this prompted you and your family to move to japan since the headquarters would be closer and your parents wouldn't constantly need to leave you home alone.

however this meant that you had to learn japanese quickly as your native tongue was korean. it wasn't that hard but it proved to be a challenge regardless and you still weren't perfect at it.

"oikawa? could you be (l/n)'s aid until she's comfortable?" the brown haired setter nodded eagerly, shooting you a friendly smile. you promptly waved back with a small smile, unknowingly accepting the fate that was to come.

after the first class of the day, there was a small break provided for the students. several students made their way over to you with curious looks on their faces.

"(l/n)-chan how long have you lived in japan?"

"when did you move here?"

"have you tried the yakisoba from piniko? it's amazing! id love to take you there."

you leaned in your seat, pulling your hands close to your chest as you slowly tried to comprehend the japanese they were speaking.

"i-i uhm... dont speak well japanese..." you stuttered, closing your eyes as you tried to calm your overwhelmed senses with this new environment. many of the students looked at one another, in confusion. you realized you had said something wrong, and tried to explain, "ah... i-im learning japanese... struggle speaking..."

"she doesn't speak japanese very well, you guys should probably stop overwhelming the poor girl." your home room teacher spoke to the students that surrounded you (although you had ABSOLUTELY no idea what he said). the crowd of students quickly dispersed and left you, many went back to their own groups of friends.

you were left alone, sitting there unsure of what to do. until a certain brown haired setter approached you.

"annyeong~ (hello)" he greeted you in your native tongue albeit a bit off due to his accent but you understood him regardless. you shyly waved back, looking down as you recalled when he had winked at you earlier.

he stood by your desk, leaning back on his desk for support, a smirk evidently on his lips. "eotteoko jinaesyeoseoyo? (how have you been?" oh, hes trying to impress you.

you shrugged, unimpressed really by his attempt to speak to you. he was trying and it was very kind of him to speak to you in a tongue you were more used to. like, you were flattered of course but you knew that he was trying his best to impress you.

"oneul nalssiga johneyo (the weather is nice today)" he simply said, glancing out the window. you looked out as well, noticing some students strolling around the school's courtyard, speaking to one another.

oikawa took this opportunity to quickly pull out his phone and looked at the korean pocket phrases he had looked up not long before he approached you. he scrolled quickly before he noticed you turning around to look at him again, he shoved his phone into his pocket, holding a grin on his face.

boy really thought he was being slick but you already guessed and this confirmed it. it was endearing though, his attempt to speak to you.

you finally opened your mouth to speak,

"dangsin-eun neomu gwiyeobda (1)"

"h-huh what?"

you giggled softly and stood up from your desk and picked up your bags. "see you around, oikawa-san." you left the room, leaving oikawa a confused blushing mess upon hearing the foreign words that left your mouth.
