Just a dream

She searched through the rubble of the building, screaming his name. Her throat burned, her eyes were watering, she felt like her legs were going to give out under her. That's when she found him. Passed out, his dress shirt covered in blood, almost not breathing.
"Neil?" Audrey yelled as she sat beside him, lightly tapping his cheek to wake him up. He opened his eyes slowly,
"You..could have saved me..but you didn't"
Audrey let a tear fall, "I'm sorry Neil
I'm so sorry"
"You're too late Audrey" he said before he went limp.
"No no no, Neil baby wake up"

"NEIL" Audrey screamed as she shot up from her sleep. She was sweating and having a hard time breathing.
She had tears running down her face. She felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist.
"Audrey breathe, it's okay I'm right here baby"
She turned to him, "I couldn't save you" she sobbed
Neil pulled her close to his chest, "it was just a dream baby it was just a dream, I'm alive and right here"

She buried her face into his neck and sobbed. Since the earthquake, Audrey wasn't the same. Neil has called her while he was in the building, he told her he loved her, they found him 10
Minutes later. She saw him and ran up to him and kissed him.

Once Neil finally got Audrey calmed down enough for her to fall asleep in his arms, he played with her hair,
"Promise me something Neil"
She whispered her nose touching his
"Anything"
He whispered putting a strand of hair behind her ear
"Promise we will say I love you even when we're mad, because we don't know what could happen"
Neil smiled and held her closer,
"I promise"
