Todoroki's POV

"How can you expect to surpass All Might if you get beaten by a hit like that?" His booming voice echoed in Todoroki's ears.

Todoroki lied on the ground, not daring to get up in case the monster hit him again.

"Get up! This is why I must train you like this! You're so weak!" The monster screamed again, each word making Todoroki hope harder and harder that he'll just disappear.

"I'm done with you. Go to bed. Tomorrow, your training will be harder because you clearly need it." The monster said before leaving the room.

Todoroki forced himself up and into his room. He lied down in his bed, not even having the energy to change into more comfortable clothes.

As he was about to fall asleep, he heard voices from the kitchen. It was his mother and that monster. They were talking. With each passing second, they got increasingly louder.

"How could you do that to him?"

"It was for his training! He's too weak! He will never be better than All Might at this rate!"

"He's not a tool for your ego, he's our son!"

"He's a mistake that shouldn't have ever been born if he's going to continue to be this weak!"

"He is not a mistake! You're a mistake, you piece of s-"

There was an ear piercing sound of skin violently hitting skin.

"Mother!" Todoroki jolted into a sitting position, awoken by his bad dream.

He breathed heavily. He looked around as he realized what had happened. When his senses finally caught up, he let out a frustrated groan.

How could he be so weak? What kind of hero wakes up every night because of something as petty as nightmares?

Most of all, Todoroki wished his mother's screams from when that monster hit her would leave his head. They kept replaying over and over again, no matter how many times to tried to will them to go away.

He needed something to distract him.

He needed Bakugo.

Todoroki got put of bed. He was going to go to Bakugo's room. Bakugo would give him comfort and listen to his problems.

You're going to bug Bakugo? After all he's been doing for you, you're going to wake him up to complain about a nightmare? Besides, do you really want him to know how weak you are to be waking up from nightmares every day? Said a voice in Todoroki's head.

Todoroki wanted to ignore the voice, but he couldn't. It wasn't wrong, Todoroki should let Bakugo sleep. But he still needed some way to get his mother's cries of pain out if his mind.

Then, a thought popped into his mind. It was one he didn't like, but he was too weak to ignore.

Todoroki walked to his desk. He took a razor blade from it. He sat down, rolling up his sleeve. His cuts from before could still be seen.

Todoroki held the blade to his skin. He was going to cut, but something stopped him. He had promised Bakugo that he wouldn't cut himself again, and he was going to break his promise so soon? He couldn't go behind his friends back like that.

Then again, Bakugo didn't have to find out, and what Bakugo didn't know couldn't hurt him.

Todoroki cut once. Then again and again. He cut over and over again until the pain in his arms overpowered the pain of his mother's torturous yells.

Todoroki sat there, looking at what he had done to himself, but in that moment, he couldn't care.

He really was weak.
