Todoroki's POV
Todoroki was woken up by the light that escaped through the blinds and landed on his face. He did his best to ignore it, but soon the pain of having light in your face while trying to sleep became unbarable so he got out of bed.
After going through his morning routine, and making sure to put on a long sleeved shirt to hide his cuts, Todoroki went down to the common room. Midoriya, Iida, Momo, Kaminari and Mina were already there. Kaminari was eating breakfast on the couch, while Iida tried to make him move to the table.
Todoroki sat down next to Midoriya on the couch that wasn't occupied by Kaminari and his food.
They six of them talked and laughed as Iida and Kaminari continued to argue about the food. Soon, Kirishima, Mineta and Bakugo joined them in the common room.
Bakugo sat down next to Todoroki, while Mineta squeezed in between Iida and Kaminari, and Kirishima sat down on the floor.
Todoroki found comfort in having Bakugo sitting next to him. It wasn't as if he felt uncomfortable before he got there, just a little awkward, but Bakugo made him feel better, although he couldn't quite understand why.
Bakugo could be heard yelling at Kaminari and Kirishima for making fun of him by calling him an angry Pomeranian. The others were laughing, sometimes joining in on the teasing. Todoroki did his best to tune them out, but their loud voices were causing his anxiety to act up. Yelling always seemed to trigger it.
"I'm going to take a walk." Todoroki announced when the loud voices became unbarable for his anxiety to tolerate.
The others have him a quick goodbye before continuing their conversation. Then, Bakugo unexpectedly asked, "Mind if I join you?"
Todoroki didn't hesitate to say yes. He'd like the company, and though he'd never admit it, he was beginning to enjoy the blonde's presence.
The others were surprised at Bakugo's request to join Todoroki during his walk, and they were probably even more surprised that Todoroki so eagerly agreed to having him along. Todoroki couldn't blame them for being surprised. If he were in their place, he'd be confused too.
"Did I miss something, because last time I checked, you two hated each other. Did something happen?" Kaminari asked.
"Mind your own goddamn business, Discount Pikachu!" Bakugo yelled.
Todoroki could tell that Kaminari (and everyone else, for that matter) wasn't satisfied with that answer, but they didn't ask anymore questions, most likely because they didn't want Bakugo to throw them into next week.
The two went outside and begun walking in silence. Todoroki didn't mind the silence. It was why he left, after all.
Todoroki looked at Bakugo. He was suddenly really grateful he was there. Usually, when he went on walks, dark thoughts took over his mind and he had to return to the building to distract himself from them, but with Bakugo here, he didn't need to worry about that happening. If his mind turned to darker things, he could talk to the fiery blonde to get rid of it.
"Why'd you come out here?" Bakugo asked abruptly.
Todoroki almost lied about why he left, but he then remembered who he was speaking to. If the past three days had proved anything, it was that he could trust Bakugo.
"Everyone was being so loud. It was triggering my anxiety. I had to leave so I could calm down." The two-tone answered.
"Shit, sorry."
"It's alright. It wasn't your fault. Kaminari and Kirishima were trying to get a reaction out of you." Todoroki didn't want Bakugo to feel guilty, when in reality, Kaminari and Kirishima were provoking him.
Bakugo looked like he was thinking hard. He seemed so focused on what he was thinking about.
Todoroki was going to ask what was on the blonde's mind, but before he did, Bakugo spoke up, "Suddenly leaving to go for a walk isn't always going to work, y'know? You can't go for walks during class, so maybe we should have a safe word. That way, I can get everyone to shut the fuck up without them realizing what's going on with you."
Todoroki considered what the blonde had said. The thought never occured to him, but he liked the idea of a safe word. It would make him feel better to know he could ask the blonde for help without anyone else knowing it.
"That sounds nice. What word should we use?" Todoroki wondered.
"I don't know, something that sounds casual, like, a word that wouldn't seem too weird to say out if the blue, but still something that we don't say so often that I couldn't tell if you needed assistance or not."
Todoroki thought about that. It made perfect sense, but he couldn't think of a word that matched that description.
Bakugo mumbled something, so quietly that Todoroki almost didn't realize he had said anything.
"Can you repeat that?" Todoroki requested.
"I said you can call me by my first name when you need help." Bakugo responded, louder this time.
Todoroki almost smiled. The idea that he had permission from Bakugo to call him by his first name made Todoroki feel good. He didn't know why, but it did.
"I like that idea. You can call me by my first name too, if you need any assistance."
Bakugo slightly smiled as he said, "We should head back or the idiots are gonna get weird ideas."
Todoroki nodded in agreement as the boys walked back. He had a feeling that it was going to be a good day.
