This is Mr. Forkle, as mentioned in my conversations.
I walked to lunch, excited to see Biana. I really, really liked her a lot. Today, I would tell her. All my joy vanished as I entered the cafeteria. I spotted Biana almost immediately, but both seats next to her were taken. Sophie sat on one side, which was fine, but it was who was sitting by her other side that got to me. It was that kid from homeroom. What did she say his name was? Tom? No... oh! It was Tam. There were other seats at the table, including the one directly across from Biana. Hope flared and I settled for that one.
"Hey Bi," I said, sitting down.
"Hi Jensi!" she replied, barely giving me a glance before turning her attention back to Tam. Deep down, my heart flinched.
A few minutes later, the table filled up and Biana stopped talking to Tam. "So, Jensi," she started. I worked up from my unusually slumpy state. "I don't think you've met Linh, have you?" I looked at the girl, who looked vaguely familiar...
"Oh!" I realized. "She's in my ELA!"
"She's Tam's twin sister," Biana informed me, not that she needed to. The twins perfectly resembled each other, right down to the silver in their hair.
"Biana, are you sure about him?" I asked. Biana stared at me. Hard.
"Jensi, you don't even know him yet. You can't judge him by the way he looks."
I felt bad for doing that, even without realizing it. Without another word, I dug into my sandwich. I didn't speak for the rest of lunch.
Just as we were going outside to recess, I pulled Biana aside. "Biana, I need to talk to you. In private." This was it, it was happening. There was nobody else around, just me, her, and a bunch of empty space.
"Biana," I began, gazing into her teal eyes. "I've had a crush on you since fourth grade. And now I'm finally admitting it. But I don't want to just be your crush, and I don't want you to just be my crush. Biana, do you want to be my girlfriend?" I held out the heart necklace I had picked out just for her.
Biana smiled. "I will, but promise me you'll try to get to know Tam, okay?"
I smiled back and put the necklace on her.
"Okay. "
Sorry, sorry. I know this chapter was really short, but the next one's a little longer!
