This is the product of being told to clean my room. It looked really great, and then I decided to play around with the lip line and messed Tam's face up completely... Other than that, I'm actually pretty proud of this one.

I promised I'd be watching Tam and Sophie, and watch them, I did. But they weren't putting on much of a show. They danced just like the rest of us, maybe a little more flirtatiously at times, but that was about it. I stared at them, waiting impatiently for some action, but it never came.

"Linh," Keefe said, and I tor my eyes off of Tam and Sophie to look at him. "We're supposed to be dancing."

I felt a faint blush rise up on my neck and was instantly glad for the dim lights. "Right," I agreed.

He nodded slowly, and for a moment, nothing happened, because neither of us knew what to do next. Then he glanced around the room and assumed the position the rest of the couples had. I copied him, stopping to stare at his hand on my waist.

"If this is too much-" he started, but I cut him off.

"It's not. It's just... new."

Keefe smiled and nodded in understanding. After a brief hesitation, he pulled me out towards the middle of the room and we copied the steps that everyone else was doing. Except with a lot more tripping and stepping on each other's feet. I was way worse than Keefe was, so it was a good thing he was tough, because I stepped on his feet at least once every twenty seconds.

"I think I'm turning into Sophie," I joked after tripping into his arms again.

Keefe laughed. "You're not half as clumsy as she is," he promised, pulling me closer. We had never been as close to each other as we were right then, and it was an experience I would never forget. I cuddled into him, taking in his warmth and listening to his heartbeat. He broke the formation and wrapped both of his arms around my waist. I sighed and closed my eyes. Suddenly, I remembered something I had said.

"Sophie! Where is she?" I hadn't noticed Keefe had pulled me away from her and Tam.

"She's probably still on the other side of the room with B- with Tam. Why?"

"I'm supposed to be Tam's chaperone!"

Keefe laughed. "Linh, I'm sure Sophie's doing just fine."

I looked around again, searching for them. "But-"

"We don't have a chaperone, do we?" Keefe asked.

I smirked. "I don't need one. You do."

"And you're doing just fine."

I bit my lip, realizing what I had done, then nodded. "Okay, but can we still get a little closer to them?"

Keefe sighed. "Let me guess. You want to be there if they kiss."

"Not 'if'," I corrected him. "When. And yes."

"But if we could see them... then they could see us."

I felt the long-gone blush come back to haunt me. "You mean you want to...?" I trailed off, not ready to say the word, let alone do it myself.

Keefe shrugged. "Only if you're ready. I don't want to rush you."

I nodded. "Maybe soon. But not yet."

Keefe said he understood, and we went back to dancing. Over the talk we'd had, I completely forgot about being Tam and Sophie's chaperone. And when I did remember, fifteen minutes later, I decided maybe it was a good idea to give them some privacy. For now at least.

Keefe and I continued to dance around the room, and I caught a few glances of my brother and his girlfriend. They never saw us, and they were never doing anything more than dancing or talking. Finally, I knew for sure that Sophie had everything under control, and I turned my attention entirely to the bright blue eyes staring into mine.

But even though Sophie had it under control, a few of my other friends soon wouldn't.

I cannot tell you how sorry I am for this short, tiny chapter. I'll tell you a little something about it, though. I used to stay up until, say, nine thirty, ten O' clock at night, writing these chapters in a notebook. I was in the middle of this one when I was found out. Luckily, I was able to keep the notebook, but my train of thought had gone, and this chapter got all torn up and killed. I couldn't put the pieces together for the rest of it, because I forgot what I had planned.

Also, I'm going to try to update once a week.

Love you guys,

~Mia
