6 - bestie drama

i sat down in class, this morning has just made me bummed out. i wasn't even planning on showing up for the first day anyways.

"oh my gosh, did you see alec and judy this morning? they're like the cutest couple in school." someone behind me said. i rolled my eyes, feeling the annoyance growing.

"she's cute, but him? i don't know." the other person said.

"they're not even that cute," i turned around to them. "look, me and alec were way cuter." i said as i pulled out my phone and showed them pictures.

"wow, i totally forgot you two dated." one guy sighed.

"and you haven't deleted those pictures yet? i thought you would've moved on..." the other said.

"i have moved on, but that doesn't mean i should forget how cute we were." i narrowed my eyes. i turned back around to face the front of the room.

i pursed my lips as i looked through photos of me and alec, it was a picture from a year ago today when we first started to hang out, when i first talked to him. we looked so happy.

i decided to post the picture without any hesitation.

"alright students, welcome to your first class. grade 11 law." my teacher said.

i smirked to myself as i put my phone down. when my picture was uploaded i heard everyone's phones going off.

that's when judy walked into class, "dani, take down the photo."

"what? why what's the matter?"

"it's a picture of you and my boyfriend!"

"yeah, a throwback photo, when he wasn't your boyfriend, tell her tati." i said as tatiana was sitting in between us, "um-"

"tell dani, that posting photos with my boyfriend is out of bounds!"

tatiana turned back to me, "well-"

"whatever, you're wrong and everyone will side with me." i shrugged. the bell rung and judy exhaled in anger before walking to her seat.

"when judges get a case that involves social media, they often have to have the app explained to them," the teacher started. "which is like, dealing with a with a case of mail fraud."

i quickly took out my phone while the teacher was speaking, tapping rapidly on my keyboard.

danixxx made a post: your "bff" shouldn't be allowed to control what pictures you post, simple🤷🏽‍♀️

everyone's phones began to go off again, i gained looks from everyone in the room. "what the hell are you doing?" tatiana whispered to me. my phone vibrated in my hand.

i could feel judy's stare burning into my head, but that didn't stop me from making another.

danixxx made a post: it's sad when girls don't have any cute photos, so they hate on yours

i heard quiet laughs from people in the room. i was gaining likes in seconds. "okay, what's going on here?" my teacher asked. everyone quickly put their phones away, trying to act like nothing was happening.

"i'm not moving on until someone tells me," he chuckled. "mark?" he asked the guy behind me.

"danica and judy are sending indirects to each other." he sighed. i furrowed my eyebrows as i looked back at him. "and why is that happening now?" our teacher asked.

i sighed, "i posted a photo and judy doesn't think that it should be allowed."

my teacher crossed his arms, "alright, since no one will be listening to me...let's try this case."

"what?" i asked.

"i hereby open the proceedings of the people vs. danica powers." he said to the class.

everyone began to whisper, a few gasps here and there. but my stomach dropped as i realized this situation won't smooth over any time soon.
