"so did you pretend the photo was recent?" mark asked me.

everything was set up like we were really in court. tatiana was the judge, i was testifying, mark was my attorney, and justin was judy's. our teacher and the other students sat in the remaining desks and watched.

"no, i clearly put that the photo was from a year ago today." i said.

"so, no one who saw it would know you two were still dating?" mark asked.

justin jumped up from his seat, "objection! she couldn't know if anybody imagined that."

"um, sustained?" tatiana said, gavel in her hand.

"withdrawn," mark sighed. "one more thing. you took the photo, it was on your phone, you posted it on your account, right?"

"yes." i said.

"so as the subject, artist, and publisher, there's no legal reason you couldn't post it right?"

"i don't think so, no."

"your witness." mark turned to justin.

justin stood up from his seat and cleared his throat, "ms. powers, did you ask your bff if you could post a picture with you and her boyfriend?"

"objection, relevance?" mark stood up. "we've established danica owns the photo."

tatiana hesitated to do anything, "your honor, i'm just trying to prove an element of emotional damage."

"sustained, i guess?" tati was so unsure of the job she was supposed to be doing.

"i didn't ask, no." i sighed.

"perhaps because you wanted to provoke a reaction from her?" justin questioned.

"what? no! i just thought we looked cute."

"and you wanted to threaten judy with said cuteness?"

"because you still have feelings for him!" judy added.

"because you stole him from me!" i shouted louder.

the whole room fell silent, i was on the verge of tears as everyone looked at me. "go to hell!" i sniffled.

"language! office, ms. powers." my teacher spoke.

i stood up without hesitation, grabbing my stuff and storming out the room.
