3 - omfg

friday, game day.

i took a deep breath as i warmed myself up for the game. the last day of school was on tuesday, today was the last volleyball game of my sophomore year.

the game wasn't a home game, we had to go to the other school for the game. our team loaded on one bus while others went on two different buses for the game.

"hey, you almost ready?" tati asked me. i exhaled heavily, "yeah i'm just nervous."

"hey danica, can i talk to you real quick?" judy asked. i nodded my head, she grabbed my arm and pulled me to the side.

"so um...i know this is probably going to hurt you a lot, and this is why i wanted to talk to you."

"okay, what is it?" i asked.

"alec asked me to be his girlfriend," shit. that's what i felt like. "and i didn't want to give him an answer until i talked to you about it. so i just wanted to know if it'd be okay if i could date him?"

a whole bunch of thoughts swarmed in my head. i was angry, "well you two would look good together..."

"really?"

"and you're both nerds for science," i sighed. "which is why it's a hard no."

"what? b-but i asked for your permission, you did the same when he asked you out."

"and i saw how hard it was for you. i dated him for eight months judy, imagine how i'll feel. i'm sorry..." i sighed before walking away.

"alright girls! let's go!" tatiana shouted to the team.

"mine!" judy yelled across the court. she jumped in the middle as she hit the ball, and that's what she did since the game started, she kept jumping in front of everyone in order to get the ball.

the referee blowed his whistle, "dani! switch spots with me!" judy yelled. she hit the ball in the air, i jumped and hit it again so judy could spike it.

the other team blocked judy's spike, hitting the ball towards the middle of our side, "mine!" tati and judy both yelled at the same time.

they both jumped in the air, hitting each other's arms as the ball hit the ground making us lose a point, "what the hell judy?"

"i said i had it!" judy sighed.

"we'll never win if you hog the court!" tati narrowed her eyes.

"so what, i'm supposed to give up the ball like everything else?" she scoffed. tati sighed, "time out!" she yelled.

tati pulled judy to the side, i followed behind them. "what's going on?" tati asked.

"i'm just so tired of having to give up everything for other people. volleyball, an important opportunity for a sports camp, alec...i mean i thought he'd at least show up."

tati sighed, "a bus hasn't showed up yet, they're probably stuck in traffic."

"all year, i've been trying to do the right thing. but what do i get in return?" her voice broke as she struggled to push out another word.

"text him." i blurted out. judy furrowed her eyebrows, "but you still have feelings."

"summer is coming up, i'll most likely meet a cute boy at the beach, maybe two," i sighed. "quick! before i change my mind..."

judy exhaled and ran to her bag, grabbing her phone and texting alec. "so what now?" tati asked. "we win this game." judy grinned.

"alright folks, the visiting team has pulled things together and we have a tie game!"

i was sweating like crazy, this game was getting intense. a girl on our team threw the ball in the air to serve it, i jumped up and hit the ball hard.

it flew into the other half of the court, a girl jumped to hit the ball, but she missed and the ball hit the ground.

we all jumped up in excitement as we had won the game. me, tati, and judy jumped into each other's arms.

i saw how judy looked into the crowd to see if alec was anywhere, i was even surprised that he hadn't shown. "no alec?" i asked. judy smiled, "at least i have you guys."

"good game. are you guys okay?" the other team captain walked up to us. judy smiled, "we just won finals, i think we're great."

"you haven't heard?" the girl asked.

all three of us looked at each other confused.

"hey guys, have you seen anyone from our school?" namjoon asked.

"yeah, i haven't seen jimin anywhere." seokjin added. "they're right, i haven't seen any students from our school..." judy said.

"seokjin!" a girl yelled.

"zoe! where's jimin? i haven't seen him anywhere..." seokjin said.

"the bus that had all our students...it crashed." her voice broke.

i blinked, this can't be happening.

"hyung..." namjoon mumbled. seokjin quickly took out his phone, dialing in jimin's number, "h-he's not answering..."

"who was on the bus?" i asked.

"i have the list," zoe said. she took the piece of paper out from her pocket.

"jimin and alec are on that bus..." tati breathed.

seokjin began to cry, tati wrapped her arms around him to comfort him. judy pulled out her phone, i saw the tears welling up in her eyes.

"hi! this is alec, please leave a message..." i heard from her phone. i grabbed onto her and hugged her tightly.

"it's okay, everything will be okay," i breathed. "it has to be."
