Derpcon

Eventually, after we were woken up by 'The Mums', a very hungover 5SOS took us to the airport to 'see us home'. They were teary-eyed, making it so hard not to tell them that, they'd see us again in a couple of days. To try and make it up to the guys, I bought everyone breakfast at the airport McDonalds but I could tell it wasn't enough. All the guys were acting menstrual and mardy, arguing with each other and being snappy with anyone and everyone around them, something I didn't blame them for.

All they wanted us to do was to do what we used to do, stay with them for a week or two THEN go home, but for this surprise to work, they had to think we'd left the country.

Their pain hurt us all but it affected Hannah the most, being the most sensitive of us. It got too much for her in the end, she just broke down in the middle of McDonald's, yelling, "Just stop it! I know you're hurting, but we are too! There's no need to act like children!" This extreme display of affection brought the guys out of their depression pit. It opened their eyes to how this was secretly how we were feeling every time they were on tour and away from us.

Everyone perked up after that, Luke never leaving Hannah's side, constantly showering her with kisses. I didn't get anything more than an arm draped over my shoulder but I was okay with that. Mikey and I weren't a 'public couple' and were quite happy to just sit with each other and laugh at the random shit going on around us, like Ash heading out into the central hub of the airport and 'showing everyone his mating call' while Cal filmed it and turned it into a keek.

Our flight was announced far too soon, but we had to say a heartfelt goodbye and we told them we'd see them soon.

15th November

We stood in a line. Me, Ellie, Anna, Hannah, Lauren and her boyfriend Rhys stood nervously outside the stadium 'Derpcon' was being held at. I quickly glanced down the line at everyone. We all looked amazing! There was no way anyone would recognize us and it was worth getting these costumes professionally made.

The girlfriends were wearing costumes that were the female versions of the superheroes 5SOS played in the 'Don't Stop' video. My short hair had been spiked, the tips dyed red. Hannah had made her fringe into a quiff and dyed it blonde. Ellie had dip-dyed her hair the same colour as Ash's, then curled it and shoved it all behind a red bandana. Anna had just put on a green beanie and goggles because she already had short hair, so didn't need to do much.

We all wore corresponding makeup, something unheard of for me, and, for the hard-core amongst us, I'd ordered contact lenses for all the girls so they could be as matching as possible. It was really weird looking at Hannah and seeing her with piercing blue eyes.

Lauren and Rhys hadn't gone to as much effort as we had but Lauren had gotten a band shirt and Rhys was wearing wrist bands.

We all linked arms and strutted into the arena as if we owned the place, trying to seem confident. Most of us pulled this off, but Ellie was struggling. She isn't good at surprises and keeping secrets so this would be a challenge for her at the best of times but because this was her boyfriend, she was struggling to keep a straight face.

I handed our tickets to a bored-looking teenager with nothing better to do, who sighed and mumbled "Enjoy your day. Hopefully, it'll be better than mine..." On our tickets, it gave us a time that was our slot to meet 5SOS to sign merchandise or just ask them questions.

The stadium was full of stalls covered from top to bottom with band merchandise from every band imaginable, everything from One Direction to Blink 182. It was a revolutionary mix of classic and new music with something for everyone. The rest of the arena was occupied by a massive stage and a section cut off for signings and a chance for fans to meet 5SOS, their idols.
