The Interview

March 1st, 2015

"Hello and welcome to Capital FM! Today we have some special guests to answer your questions that you've texted us or tweeted to us at '@CapitalFM', it's 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER!" A cheer from the crew members backstage mixed with the artificial cheer from the sound effects, making it sound like there were thousands of people screaming at them.

"And we're also joined by four girls who are now almost infamous for stealing their hearts. We're joined by Ellie, Hannah, Annalea and Ellie, also known as 5SOS' girlfriends!" Another set of cheers, this time joined by 5SOS themselves, filled the studio.

We've changed a lot physically, all of us, over the last few months, so I wasn't surprised that the fans found it hard to recognise us. Ellie and Anna have hit their 'nine-inch summer' growth spurt, Anna is now 5'9" and Ellie is over six feet! Anna cut her long hair short, pixie style, and streaked it blue. Ellie's hair is even longer now because she refuses to cut it, so it reaches her thighs, is purple streaked and is always held back by a bandana. It's what we buy her and Ash as presents since that's the only thing they both like.

Hannah's the person that's probably changed the least, her fashion sense is still... unique and her hair is still untameable, ringlets flying everywhere, but she's finally got the lip ring that she'd wanted for a long time, so she and Luke are now a matching pair. She's also grown a couple of inches, not many but it's enough to overtake me. I think last time we measured her she was about 5'4".

No matter how hard we try, you will always be a midget to these people.  

I feel like my time with 5SOS has helped me come out of my 'Style chrysalis' because I felt like I could finally wear the things I wanted to, without being judged or looked at weirdly. 

At the time of this interview, I wore bright neon green Converse, stone-washed skinny jeans, one of Michael's Blink-182 shirts tucked into the trousers, grey braces to match the jeans and a black fedora which was perched on top of my newly-dyed purple hair that Mikey had helped me to do yesterday. We'd grown to be a close-knit family unit that would do anything for any of the members and none of us wanted that to change.

The presenter sat on one side of the desk, while the rest of us were all squished around the other side. It was pretty claustrophobic, we were practically sat on each other's laps, but we didn't care, well at least I didn't, because I'd just been told by the management team that we could live with 5SOS for as long as we wanted, so we could be with them during the Easter half-term break.

Sorry mum, but we're spending Easter not with our crazy, deranged family, but with our boyfriends that we see about once every two months.

"Today, I thought we'd play a game called 'Who is...?'"

"CALLED IT!" I couldn't help it, I just had to call out because it was true! In the lobby, before we'd got miked up, I'd said how I thought we'd play a 'Let's get to know you' game and I was right! This outburst got a laugh from everyone but the presenter, who just gave me a sympathetic smile. "Anyway... basically, all you have to do is answer the questions honestly. Round one is about the girls, then round two will be about all of you as couples. You up for it?"

Well, it's not like we can refuse.

"Yeah, go for it!"

"I don't see why not..."

"YEAH! I'M SO PUMPED!"

"BOOYA! Let's get this party started!"

"Okay... Round one, question one." While the presenter prepared the questions, I felt Mikey's hold my hand just a little bit tighter, a sign of affection hidden from the camera that's right in our faces. "Who would you say is the prettiest of you four?"
