As soon as I got backstage I was greeted by Dean.
He had this adorable proud little grin on his face, and he was the only person I wanted to share this moment with. I jumped into his arms and burst into tears, dropping my sledgehammer in the process.
"I'm so proud of you."
"I couldn't have done it without you."
"No babe that was all you," he said while wiping tears from my cheeks. He didn't even noticed the blood that got on his hands.
"No I'm serious. Knowing you believed in me meant the world to me."
"Of course I believed in you. I'd be an idiot not to," he said.
I'm so lucky.
"I love you," I told him with a huge smile on my face.
"I love you too. But make sure to stop at the trainer's after you greet everyone. I can come with you."
"Okay," I told him sheepishly before letting go of him to say hi to the other people around me. I walked to his best friends and gave Seth and Roman hugs.
"Congratulations Ella," Roman exclaimed.
"You were unbelievable. Really," Seth responded.
"Thank you you guys," I said, sniffling. I was just so overcome with joy.
My parents were waiting a few feet over. I gave Dean a kiss and walked over to my parents.
"I am so proud of you honey," my mom said, pulling me in for an incredibly tight hug.
"Your mom is right. You were spectacular. Resilient. I'm just so honored to be your father," my dad said, causing the tears to form once again.
I pulled him in for a hug and with my chin on his shoulder I saw Chris Jherico lurking.
No. He is not going to ruin this moment for my family and me.
"Excuse me." I told my parents, walking down the hall.
"I'll meet you guys in the locker room," I said to the boys.
I kept walking in the direction of Chris.
"What are you doing?"
He responded, "I was just watching."
"No. You can't do that," I started, "You can't just casually become a part of my life."
"I wasn't trying to interfere-" he began but I cut him off, "Then why did you ask for a paternity test?"
"I don't know. I-I kept your mother's and my relationship a secret for over 20 years, but you looked like me. I had to know if you were mine.""Well I'm not yours. Hunter is my dad."
"You're absolutely right. He raised you. That's your father," he sighed.
"I know I'm right."
"I just felt like I had to be here. I may not be your father, but you still are my daughter."
"Whatever. Just leave me and my family alone!" I told him, before storming off.
"I saw you use my move," he said, causing me to stop in my tracks.
"Excuse me?"
"The walls of Jherico."
"Yeah I didn't know you owned that submission."
"Why did you do it?" He asked.
"I wanted to," I responded.
"I don't believe you."
"Don't push me," I said, "You almost ruined my life!"
"I gave you life."
"Shut up! Leave me alone." I told him, walking away.
Who does he think he is?
I stormed off for real this time.
I walked toward the boys' locker room.
Finally, I made it.
I barged right in.
"Hey champ," Dean said.
I walked over to him slowly and slumped down next to him.
"I'm so tired," I told him.
"You okay?" He asked.
I shrugged my shoulders, "I had a little run-in with Chris."
"You did?"
"Mhm."
"How'd that go?" He asked, "what was he trying to say?"
"I kind of told him off."
"Really?" He said raising his eyebrows and leaning back.
"Yeah actually. He asked me about the walls of Jherico."
"Yeah I noticed that," Dean said with a little grin on his face.
"Hey! It's a common maneuver," I responded.
"Whatever works for you champ," he said, as he ruffled my hair, "you ready to go?"
"What about the rest of the night?"
"We both already won. Why not celebrate?" He asked.
"I'm honestly exhausted," I told him as a yawn slipped out.
"You're cute," he said, "so I guess I can take you back to the house instead of going."
"Aww he likes me," I teased him.
"What can I say, I'm a sucker for a champion," he said, which caused an obnoxious laugh to slip out of me.
He then planted a fat kiss on my cheek, which brought an even larger smile to my now red face.
"But first let's go to the trainer's room," he said. Of course he wouldn't forget.
