chapter 13

alejandro's pov

"your brother's a dick," skylar says, taking off her jacket.

"yeah," i agree. "now you know what i had to deal with my entire lifetime."

"i feel sorry for you." she plops down on her bed and gestures for me to follow. "now we need a new history teacher and a football coach."

"he was the history teacher too?" i ask.

"yup, he was my history teacher," she answers. "i hated him, but he didn't deserve to get mauled by an animal."

yea.. an animal.

"let's not think about that," i say putting my arm around her, "can i sleep over?"

"of course."

the next day

night time..

all of us were at the grill eating, reminiscing about what happened last night.

"yo blake," joseph said, "how's your sister?"

"i don't even know man," blake answers. "i feel like she's on some crazy drug bender."

"well why do you think that?" skylar asks.

"she's been on edge. and she's so jumpy," blake tells us. "speaking of ava where is she?"

we all look around the grill.

"we can split up and find her," chloe suggests. "if you want."

"yeah that's a good idea," trinity says. "don't worry blake we'll find her."

"i'm sure she's just off smoking somewhere but ever since that animal attack, i don't want her to be alone you know?"

"i'll look at the park across," i say.

"okay i'll go to the back," said skylar.

i walk to the park and try to use my super hearing to locate her.

"no please," i hear her cry. "don't hurt me."

i look up at the tower and see Ava with mattia. does this man ever give it a rest?

i super speed up to the tower. "mattia let her go."

"oh," he says, "yeah sure thing."

he tips ava over the edge.

"no," i shout.

"why are you doing this?" ava cries.

mattia throws her on the floor. "what attacked you the other night?"

"it was an animal attack," ava answers, unsure.

"wrong. what attacked you the other night?" mattia repeats.

ava stares at the floor and thinks. "a vampire.. it was you."

"god, alejandro your compulsion game is weak as fuck." mattia turns back to ava. "nope," he says bending to her face. "it was alejandro," he compels her.

"it was alejandro," ava says.

"alejandro is a vampire, and he was the one who hurt you," mattia smiles.

"mattia please don't do this," i beg.

"you can always stop me," mattia says ripping the bandage from ava's neck, revealing the bite he gave her. "just take a sip of some human blood and you'll be strong enough to compel her."

"is that what you want? you want me to feed on humans again? why? so we can be that duo again?" i ask. "you know what, let ava tell everyone it was me. let the people of mystic falls know that vampires are back in town. you can be first in line to see them drive a stake right through my heart."

mattia softens his looks.

"that's what you want right?" i ask. "cuz it's what i want. i want to be free of you."

he bites the inside of his cheek. "cute, did you prepare that speech in the shower? or in front of the mirror?" i glare at him. he picks up ava so she's on her foot. "forget everything you saw just or heard," he compels her.

ava blinks a little bit. "ow my neck," she winces. "i mustve ripped my bandage. how'd i get here?"

"i don't know," mattia says, "we just found you up here wandering."

"huh, i don't remember anything," ava chuckles. "i should go, blake is gonna worry again."

"yea," i say quietly, "i'll walk you."

"oh my god ava where did you go," blake says running to hug her. "i told you to not go anywhere alone."

"sorry blake i didn't mean to," she says, "uh alejandro found me and walked me back."

"thank you man," blake dabs me up.

"of course," i reply.
