Lots of people.
That was the first thing you noticed upon stepping inside the huge ballroom. There were hundreds, almost thousands of people inside, all dressed extravagantly. You felt extremely out of place, clinging to Jungkook's arm the whole time. Yours and Jungkook's eyes were flying around the room, trying to look for the supposed 'Ji-Hyun' who was difficult to find, considering the fact that everyone was wearing a mask. Most people were dancing, right in the middle. But not dancing wildly, slow dancing. That's what you expect from rich ass people, You think to yourself.
You walk to a corner, standing next to Jungkook and tightening your grip on his arm. Everyone was talking, drinking and relaxing while you just looked stressed. You tried to calm yourself down, and that's when someone approaches you.
He was tall and lean, but not as tall as Jungkook. His eyes were a piercing grey and so was his hair. He was wearing a plain black suit with no tie, but what caught your eye was his mask. It was grey, but still shone as if it were silver. It had intricate designs all over it, and the only time you could stop staring was when you noticed him begin to talk to you. His voice comes out deep as he speaks, "Miss, can I have this dance?" He extends his arm out, bending slightly and waiting for you to respond, a slight smile on his face.
You look up at Jungkook, who begins to speak for you, "Ah, she's with me."
The man chuckles, standing straight but his arm was still extended outwards. "The whole point of this ball is to dance with someone you may or may not know," He pauses, eyeing Jungkook with a small but threatening look, "...is that a problem for you?"
You immediately notice Jungkook's fists clench and you let go of his arm, patting his bicep before smiling, "No it is not." You put your hand in the man's, and he leads you to the dance floor, taking note of Jungkook's glare in his direction.
You watch as he snaps his fingers, and the people on the floor immediately start clearing out to make space for him. You furrow your eyebrows, thinking, Just who is this guy?
He rests a hand on your waist, the other holding yours. You move your free hand up to his shoulder, setting it down. He smiles at you, and the music begins.
It was a traditional waltz, and you thank your mother internally for forcing you to take dance classes when you were younger. At least you don't look like a complete idiot who can't dance. Everyone's eyes were on you, but more importantly, you notice how the man in front of you wouldn't stop staring at your mask, reminding you of when you were entranced by his mask as well.
He looks into your eyes, smiling, "Might I ask what your name is?"
You hesitate for a second before saying, "Lisa." You decided to use a fake name, just in case anything were to happen or if he turned out to be the bad guy, since Mizuki did tell you to watch out and be careful.
He nods, mumbling softly, "Lisa. That's nice."
You smile, feeling awkward all of a sudden, "Yeah, thanks."
He sighs, looking elsewhere, "I'm sorry if I'm awkward, this is literally the first interaction I've had with a female, like, ever."
You chuckle, feeling the tenseness in the air slowly disappear, "You serious? No offence but you kinda look like one of those 'fuckboys'."
He snorts, nodding, "I look like I am, but trust me I'm the actual opposite. I didn't even wanna come to this thing but I was forced to. I'd rather just stay home and watch some Netflix show or something. Maybe even take a nap."
You groan, nodding your head aggressively, "I've never related to anything more than that. It took all the energy in me to come to this thing when I'd rather be sleeping."
He laughs, eyeing you, "Well then we should set up a hang out where both of us just sleep."
You laugh as well, nodding, "That sounds awesome!"
All of a sudden, you notice him take a look at his watch quickly before gasping slightly. He lets you go, pulling you to a side before speaking, "I'm so sorry, I have to go meet my friend, he should be at the entrance by now." He smiles, picking up your hand before continuing, "It was amazing dancing with you though. Remind me to get your phone number at the end of this. Till we meet again." He kisses your hand before straightening his suit and walking away. You were left clutching your hand to your chest and watching his figure move further and further away from you.
Finally, you walk back to where Jungkook was, seeing him intensely staring at something while taking a sip of whatever drink he had in his glass. You walk over to him, waving a hand in front of his face. He ignores you, taking another sip. You roll your eyes, slapping his cheek lightly. He still doesn't look at you. You roll your eyes again, smiling at his childishness. Just as he was about to take another sip, you yank the glass out of his hand, gulping the whole drink down before setting the glass on some table. Jungkook still refuses to look at you, angry because you left him.
You sigh, deciding to do something extremely risky in order to get him to talk to you. You grab his tie, pulling him closer and planting a quick peck on his lips before pulling back, smiling at his dumbfounded expression. "Forgiven?" You ask, releasing his tie. His cheeks burn pink and he sighs, smiling and then mumbling, "Forgiven. But don't you dare leave me again! And who was that douche anyway?"
You shrug, turning back to look for him but seeing no one. "I don't know," You say, turning back to look at your date for the night.
Jungkook eyes you weirdly before you all hear a loud noise. It was the sound of someone talking through a mic, and it was coming from the speakers around the room. The lights dim and you look at where the only light was pointed, at the top of the staircase which was at the end of the large ballroom.
It was a middle aged man with no mask on, wearing a suit and holding a mic in his hands, repeatedly saying, "Could I get everybody's attention please?"
You and Jungkook turn fully, giving the man the attention he desired. Jungkook whispers to you, "That's the CEO." You nod in reply.
The man chuckles when staring at everyone in the huge crowd, a large smile plastered on his face. He begins to speak, "Welcome, welcome! I'm happy to see we got a good turn up." He clears his throat before continuing, "As you all may or may not know, the purpose of having this party is to celebrate my son taking over the company!" The crowd claps and the man nods, "Yes, yes. Well, he officially turned 27, and we figured it was about time he took over. Come out here, won't you son?"
The crowd roars, calling for him to come out.
A man walks in from the left, standing next to his father. Your eyes widen, seeing the same man who asked you to dance with him up there. You and Jungkook face each other, wide eyed before looking back at him. CEO Min chuckles, turning to face him and saying, "Come on, take your mask off!"
The man sighs, almost as if he were annoyed before pulling his mask off and staring at everyone. You found him highly good looking.
CEO Min smiles before shouting,
"I'd like you all to formally meet my son, Min Yoongi!"
