I would have never been chased by an assassin if it wasn't for my friend, Jonathan. Jonathan wasn't a regular person. He was a spy in training at MI6 Academy. My name's Catherine Hale, a spy who currently works for MI6 Intelligence. My ex-husband, Alexander, and my daughter, Erica work for the CIA. But we didn't start off as spies. It all started when I saw Jonathan on a trip...
My name at this time was Catherine Smith. I was going to Camber Sands with my best friend Kim and her brother, Alex. Alex was one of the best spies in MI6. I first saw Jonathan when he was in the water, in a speed boat. I was about to wave hello, but then something strange occurred to me. Jonathan's family wasn't rich, I thought. How could he own that type of speed boat. It was huge with an overpowered engine. But then I thought he probably rented one from the island. I was about to turn around when I caught a glimpse of Jonathan. He looked very worried. Maybe even scared...
And then a person dressed in black from head to toe jumped on me. Even though I didn't yet know that the person was a spy, or that Alex was one, I called Alex for help.
"Alex!" I exclaimed, "Help!". Alex's instincts kicked in immediately. He instantly started to fight. I was super impressed(and under the impression that I was delirious). It was as if I was watching a turtle fight a tiger. The enemy spy didn't stand a chance. Alex took him down in seconds.
"Run," he yelled. I didn't have to be told twice. I ran as fast as Usain Bolt. As I was running, I risked glancing at Jonathan.
It was the wrong decision.
When I looked back in front of me, another agent was there. I didn't get a good look at her, because a second after I looked back, somebody from behind grabbed me and threw me into a black SUV. We arrived at a warehouse. I was thrown into the building. Inside, they sat me on a chair and handcuffed me to it. All Of the sudden, a bright light pointed to me, so bright I had to shield my eyes, which made me notice that I was cuffed. Suddenly I thought, Why am I here? Actually, a series of questions filled up in my head. What did they want me for? Why not someone else? And finally, What was so special about me? I had a billion more, but before I could finish thinking, I got cut off by the same woman I saw before. I now got a good look at her face now. She was pretty, with black hair and brown eyes. She had what I thought was a gun, which I thought was impossible, or was it? They'd already kidnapped me, for no reason, so why not shoot me?
"Hello, Catherine Smith. It's a pleasure to meet you," the woman said. Before I could respond, however, I got knocked out.
When I woke, I was in a vehicle again. I don't know where I was headed. I Had my mouth taped, so I couldn't ask them. They probably wouldn't tell me anyway. I was trapped- for no reason whatsoever, and no one could save me. No one could save me because:
1. I didn't have my phone (they had confiscated it)
2. I didn't know where I was.
3. No one else knew where I was (except for the kidnappers)
And, who knows what happened to Alex- or Jonathan, for that matter. He appeared to be being chased by somebody, too. Suddenly, a thought struck me. Did Jonathan have anything to do with this? I asked myself. If he too was being chased, was it related to this somehow? I instantly felt guilty. If something happened to him, or Alex, I couldn't help but feel like it was my fault. So as long as Alex was in trouble, or Jonathan, for that matter, I was the only person left to save them. Or, at least I thought I was. Because that moment somebody ran into our car. It all happened so quickly, I didn't see the face of the person who saved me. He (or she) whacked heads together and grabbed me so quickly I didn't even blink an eye. My rescuer shot through the window, jumped out, and dragged me along with him.
Despite that I was thankful, and that he'd saved me, I ran away. I still didn't know who that was, and he had a gun, which didn't exactly make me want to stay and get to know him.
"Wait!" my rescuer exclaimed. I was going to keep running, but there was something familiar about that voice. I just couldn't get a grip. "I just saved your life, and this is how you treat me." I recognized that voice.
Jonathan.
"I thought you were captured," I replied. "I thought... I thought you were..." I began.
"Dead." Jonathan said. "They didn't get rid of me-" Jonathan began, but couldn't finish because an enemy said,
"Put your hands up!". Which I didn't yet know was a real dilemma.
