I waited for about 20 minutes before Kim woke up.
She sat up confused, trying to remember what had happened. I'm guessing she did, because her eyes went wider than I thought eyes ever could. She quickly got to her feet, not needing help from me. She seemed to have been looking for the boy that sedated her.
"He's in the dumpster, sedated. I don't know when he'll wake up," I explained. "He should be coming-" I started, but Kim clapped a hand over my mouth. She pointed toward the dumpster, where I could now see he was already out, and I could smell him over 10 feet away. Kim let go of my mouth and reached for her utility belt, which I had laid across the ground beside us. She got a gun out of a holster and slowly moved it toward the boy.
The gun fell out of her hand.
The boy noticed this immediately. Kim made no attempt to hide anymore. She grabbed her gun and started shooting it at the boy for cover. He dove for cover in a bush.
"Grab my utility belt and give it to me, then take off your jacket and cover for me," Kim ordered.
I did everything she said without even thinking about what her plan was. She handed me her gun and I started to shoot at the bush. I did notice that Kim took her jacket off as well. I then turned my full attention to the bush where the boy was hiding, not wasting every bullet. When I looked back, there was a tiny hole just big enough for me and Kim to climb through, one by one. Next to the hole sat a laser, which meant she had used that for the hole. It was already far down, big enough for both of us to squeeze in. Kim had both our jackets in her arms and the utility belt in her hand. I picked up the laser, because I thought it might be of more use. However, I still had no idea what the jackets were for.
"Go," Kim said. I didn't have to be told twice. I got down the hole quickly, but before Kim came down, I heard lots of gunshots, and they seemed to be heading our way. Kim came down the hole even faster than me and put one of the jackets over the top of the hole, covering the hole. It seems she thought there would be a need of 2.
"There's a bomb in my jacket above, which will give away where we went, but also give us time. We still don't have much, though. Get that laser out of your pocket and get to work, so we can break in," Kim said. There was still one thing I needed to know, however.
"Kim, why do you want to break in exactly?" I asked.
Kim looked at me as if I was a baby who didn't know anything.
"Isn't it obvious," Kim replied. "This is where they are holding Jonathan."
