Chapter 26: A One Big Happy Family

Beast Boy clears his throat nervously, "I don't know where to start, but my name is Garfield Mark Logan..."

"Garfield?" Cyborg questions, "Like as in Garfield the lazy cat who loves lasagna?"

Beast Boy chuckles, "Yeah, I have no idea why my parents picked that name."

The Titans chuckles quietly and Beast Boy continues, "When I think about it, it makes sense somehow I guess... Not because what I can do"

Beast Boy takes the time to see what is front of him. Cyborg is sitting on plastic folded chair on left side of Beast Boy. Robin sits in the big arm chair, the same one that Beast Boy sat when he was being interrogated by Robin in Beast Within, with Starfire beside him on the chair's arm. Robin's arm lazily hanging around Starfire's waist and Starfire's hand holding Robin's beside her waist. Raven is sitting on the same type of chair as Cyborg and is sitting closely to Beast Boy on the right side and her hand is still held by Beast Boy's.

Beast Boy smiles at the sight of his friends and continues, "I wasn't always like this, ya know, being green and all. I used to have blonde hair, non-pointy ears" Beast Boy wiggles his ears for the effect, "And my skin wasn't green, it was olive skin. The only thing that remained the same is the color of my eyes."

Beast Boy squeezes his eyes shut for a moment and sighs, "I was normal, and so were my parents, Mark and Marie Logan. They were the world-famous scientist and it was nine years ago...

(Beast Boy's voiceover as he continues)

Garfield and his parents went to Africa to study new species of animals. Garfield always loved to see new kinds of animals, learning about them. Like his parents, Garfield was bright young boy.

Garfield's parents heard about a rare green monkey that is currently roaming around the forest. Excitedly, the parents went to the forest and began to look for the green monkey, along with Garfield trailing behind them.

"I did something so stupid..."

Something caught his eyes while he was walking behind his parents, something in the bush. So, he left his parents and walked toward to the green bush. Discovering none, but he continued to walk further out of the trail. It wasn't long until he got lost, middle of tall trees around him. He was only six, terrified, panicked, looking for his parents. Then there, in a branch of a tree, he saw a green monkey, lazily swing on the branch. He decided to walk up to the green monkey. Garfield was amazed by the monkey; he had never seen anything like it.

Unfortunately, when Garfield continued to get closer to the monkey, the monkey's instincts acted quickly and attacked Garfield and bit him on his shoulder. Garfield screamed loudly as he could and then passed out, who knows for how long. Luckily, his parents found him and bring him back to the tent. Garfield fell ill with Sakutia.

"I was in so much pain... I was dying and the look on my parents' faces." Beast Boy cringes.

He was dying; his parents worked so hard to find the cure. Mark discovered a possible way to cure his son but he wasn't sure since it hadn't been tested so they took the risk.

"It worked" Beast Boy chuckles sadly, "But it wasn't the way they expected..."

Garfield recovered, but he wasn't the same; his dirty blonde hair turned into dark shade of green, his tanned skin from head to toe turned into bright green.
