As my older brother and I padded across the forest floor, I noticed him constantly casting worried glances at me. I couldn't blame him. With today's event occurring, I probably look like a grumpy, moody, teenager.

"You okay there, Sammy?" Dean asked. I only grunted as a reply, not really wanting his pitty. I understood why he thought he had to do it, but I didn't want to be given the whole, "Let's take your mind off of your engagement" speech. But, sure enough, he kept going on about ideas for a later activity that probably wasn't going to happen regardless.

He went on about wanting to spar, which probably will happen regardless, and then talked about going into town, to a bar, and doing things we used to do before my surprise engagement came up. It sounded fun until he mentioned getting girls for the night, which was something only he liked to do. I'd had enough. I stopped just in front of him and looked him dead in the eye.

"Dean, one, we both know that you're the only one that actually wants to "get some girls." Two, I know what you're trying to do and it's not going to work. I'm engaged, I'm getting married, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Not even you. So I don't need your pity, or, whatever, okay?" I took a breath, trying to calm myself down. "Let's just get back to the patrol so we can get back in time."

I turned back around and began walking at a faster pace than before. It was quiet for a moment when Bobby's howl broke through the air. She was here. I looked back towards where we came and hung my head as I began to turn back.

"We're in the middle of a patrol," Dean said as he walked in front of me, blocking my path back to camp. "We can finish up and then head back. I'm sure mom and dad won't mind."

I felt relieved at his comment as my tail began to wag. I gave him a small smile that he returned with a larger one. We continued the patrol in silence until Dean broke it.

"Who knows," he said. "Maybe she'll be a babe..." I cracked a large smile.

"Shut up you jerk," I said, shoving him with my shoulder playfully.

"Bitch," He replied, giving me a much harder shove.

     Y/N

The car ride to Kansas was long but it felt way too short. I don't think falling asleep halfway through the trip helped. We left Indiana at first light so I guess I was a little more tired than expected. The surroundings of my soon to be home looked similar but felt so different. Fields or not, I don't think this will ever truly be my new home. My brother seemed to notice my demeanor.

"Hey, maybe it won't be so bad," He suggested, "Maybe you'll take a liking to him."

I looked over at him and gave a look that said I wasn't really in the mood. Whereas he had a goofy grin. Oh no, he's about to make a joke.

"Maybe he'll help you next time you get stuck on a five-foot-high tree branch." That made me do more than crack a small smile. "Y/B/N, that was ONE time when I was seven!" I couldn't help but laugh considering the circumstances. His dorky little smile made me laugh even harder.

"Y/B/N, help me! I climbed up a tree for the first time and I don't know how to get down!" He said in a high pitched voice with a tone to terribly mock a crying little girl. I gave him a light punch on the arm and he immediately recoiled, acting as if I stabbed him. A knock on the car door window brought me back to reality.
