Bella crumpled up the paper, just before Alice came back.
"Everything all right?" Alice asked.
"Absolutely," Bella said with a fake smile.
Alice nodded and then disappeared, deeper into the forest. Bella opened up the crumpled piece of paper in her palm and read it over and over again.
Destroy the Child.
Bella looked around her to see if anyone was watching her. Bella then exhaled, her breath visible in the air. She ripped up the paper to itty bitty pieces, so no one would find it. Bella inhaled slowly and followed Alice's scent. She finally caught up to Alice, who was leaning against a tree.
"I thought you got lost," Alice said with a cheesy smile. Bella shook her head.
"You can hunt around here," Alice said, "The Canadian border is just up there, and you're more then welcome to have a peek around there."
Alice grinned then looked at her watch.
"Oh dear! I'm going to be late for tree decorating!" she squeaked. "You can come back whenever."
In a blur, Alice was gone.
Bella bit her lip. She wanted to go back, but she didn't want to intrude.
'I'll just have a quick snack..' Bella thought to herself.
Bella looked down at her feet. Her boots were completely wrecked. There were rips in them, and they were completely falling apart. Bella bent down and untied her shoes and threw them off her feet. She squished her toes in the snow. The cold didn't bother her; not anymore at least.
A snowflake landed on Bella's nose as she walked across the Canadian border. She giggled and looked up at the sky. Snowflakes were falling, but it looked more like they were dancing. She held out her hand and caught a snowflake in her hand. Bella half-heartedly smiled.
"Miss? Are you all right?" a voice said.
Bella turned around. A man was staring at her, his eyes drifting to her feet. Bella breathed in the crisp air and smelt him. She could feel the flames rising up in her throat. She crouched down, placing one hand in the snow. Her throat grumbled, and Bella let a growl escape her lips.
The man's eyes grew as wide as saucers. Bella pushed off the ground and tackled the man to the ground. Bella wiped the venom that had spilled out of her mouth, off her chin. The man struggled but Bella was stronger. She held him by his throat, and sank her fangs into his vein, on his wrist. The man screamed in agony and his body jerked around, like he was having a seizure. Bella released the vein, having her fill. She wiped her mouth and then heard something; The man was still breathing. Bella swallowed, knowing what she had to do.
"I'm so sorry.."She whispered.
She grabbed the man's head and smashed it into the snow. She heard his skull crack. Blood oozed out from the back of his head. Bella stood up, and wiped her hands off on her jeans. Bella threw the man's body over her shoulder and walked to an open space. She laid him on the ground and looked at him. His eyes were still open, frozen in fear. Bella grazed her fingers over the man's lids and closed them.
She pulled a lighter from her back pocket off her jeans and flicked it. She threw the lighter on his abdomen and the body caught on fire. Bella then noticed something shiny on the ground. She ran over to it and picked it up. It was a thermos. Bella looked at it and saw her reflection. Her face was full of blood, the same colors of her eyes. Bella hissed and threw the thermos against a tree, smashing it to pieces. She ran her lips over her bottom teeth, the taste of the man still fresh on her lips. Bella looked at the man once more before she started running back towards the Cullen house.
