I re-entered my bedroom in a daze, not fully believing the news I had just been given. Pregnant. There was, apparently, another human being forming in my body. The nurse from my doctor's office had explained to me how that could be part of why I had been feeling so awful as of late; my body was adjusting to whatever was going on inside of it. There was no way I would be able to go back to sleep, so I left Sutton sleeping and went down to the kitchen to make some coffee. Halfway through my first cup, I called to make an appointment with an OB-GYN for a scan, because even though the blood test said I was pregnant, I wouldn't believe it until there was a grainy blip in a black and white photo for me to see. I had been able to book an appointment in a couple of days, so I wouldn't have to wait long to find out. As I poured my second cup of coffee, I searched the internet for women getting pregnant when they had IUDs and read through story after story, trying to accept the fact that I was now one of these stories.

I made the decision to not tell anyone for as long as I could, mostly because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. It would be so easy to just act like it never happened, and no one would ever know, but at the same time, I wasn't put off by the thought of being a mother; the idea was actually kind of thrilling. But it wasn't just my decision, and since there was only one other person who could have assisted in the making of this...teeny, tiny human, I sent Louis a text and much to my surprise, he responded within minutes.

To Louis: Hey, are you free today? Need to talk to you.

From Louis: I'll have some free time around lunch. Meet then?

To Louis: Takeout at your place?

From Louis: See you then!

As I finished replying to Louis, Sutton came into the kitchen rubbing sleep from his eyes. "Morning, Nat."

I gave him a small smile. "Morning, Goose. Help yourself to some coffee."

He shook his head. "As much as I would love to stay, I am going to be late to the studio if I don't leave, like, now."

"Oh, okay, no worries." I stood up from my chair and held my arms out for a hug. "Thank you for hanging out."

He wrapped me in a tight hug and pressed a kiss into my hair. "Of course." As he stepped away from the hug and headed towards the front door, Sutton turned to me. "You'll let me know when you get your results, right?"

I gave him a tight-lipped nod, afraid that if I spoke, I would tell him the truth.

"Perfect timing," Louis let me into his house. "The food got here a few minutes ago."

I grinned at him. "Great!"

"You're sure you only wanted fried rice?"

"Yeah. That's all."

Louis eyed me suspiciously as we sat to eat. "You alright, love?"

I nodded. "I'm okay. What about you? Tell me what's been going on with you."

As we ate, Louis told me about Zayn leaving One Direction and how he had been dealing with that, the recent trip he had taken to visit his family, and how the new album sales and tour prep had been going so far. I listened intently and commented when appropriate, but let Louis do most of the talking. I was worried that if I said more than three words, I would just blurt out the test results, and that was less than tactful. I still wasn't quite ready when Louis finished the last of his food and turned all his attention to me. "You said you needed to talk. What's up?"

I set my plate down on the table and nodded, taking a sip of my drink. "Yeah. Um, I have to tell you something." I looked at Louis, who nodded encouragingly. "I've been feeling shitty lately, which is why I only had rice just now."
