Along the way to Sapulpa, they asked a Native American man for directions. They thanked him after he directed them where to go and drove away.
∞ Oklahoma Diner ∞
The three entered the diner and found an old Native American man playing cards at a table. They walked towards him.
"Joe White Tree?" Sam asked
The man nodded
"If it's fine with you, can we ask a few questions, sir?" Ethan asked
" We're from students from the University" Dean said
" No you're not. You're lying" Joe said
Dean was taken aback, " Well, truth is-
He got cut off, " You know who starts sentence with 'truth is'? Liars" Joe said.
The three looked at each other.
" Have you ever heard of Oasis Plains?" Ethan asked
"It's a development near the Atoka Valley" Sam added. Ethan nodded
Joe looked at Dean, " I like them. They're not a liar", at that Dean's face contorted into an angry one. "I know the Area" Joe said
"What can you tell us about the history there?" Ethan asked
"Why do you wanna know?" Joe asked
Ethan looked at Sam and Dean, " Something...something bad is happening in Oasis Plains" he said
"We think it might have something to do with some old bones we found down there-Native American bones" Sam added
" I'll tell you what my grandfather told me, what his grandfather told him." Joe started. " Two hundred years ago, a band of my ancestors lived in that Valley. One day, the American cavalry came to relocate them. They were resistant, the cavalry got impatient. As my grandfather put it, in the night the moon and the sun share the sky as equals, the cavalry first raided our village. They murdered, raped. The next day, the cavalry came again, and the next, and the next. And on the sixth night, the cavalry came one last time. And by time the sun rose, every man, woman, and child still in the village was dead. They say on the sixth night, as the chief of the village lay dying, he whispered to heavens that no white man would ever tarnish this land again. Nature would rise up and protect the Valley. And it would bring as many days of misery and death to the white man as the cavalry had brought upon his people." Joe said
" Insects. Sounds like nature to me. Six days" Dean said
" And on the night of the sixth day, none would survive" Joe said
The Winchesters looked at one another.
∞ Outside ∞
"When did the gas company guy die?" Sam asked
"Um..." Ethan thought for a moment
"Uh, let's see, we got here Tuesday, so"
"Friday the twentieth" Dean and Ethan said in unison.
" March twentieth?" Sam asked, Ethan and Dean nodded " That's the spring equinox" Sam pointed out
" The night the Sun and Moon share the sky as one" Dean said
"So every year about this time, anybody in Oasis Plains is in danger" Sam said
" Larry built this neighborhood on cursed land" Ethan pointed out.
" And on the sixth night-that's tonight" Dean pointed out
" If we don't do something. Larry's family will be dead by sunrise" Sam said
