Once we walked inside I saw Oscar's dad in the hallway. "Great you're right on time. We're about to do a quick prayer before we go out," The four of us followed him into Oscars area in the back. He saw me and immediately started to just shake his head and smile. "Let's do this, everyone, hold onto each other's hands," Oscar said as he held onto mine and Angelina's.
"Oh heavenly Father, help me today to honor you and all I do and say in this ring. May my love and worship of You supersede all things in my heart today whether we win, lose or draw. Lord, I ask you to let the practice of my craft be expressed fully in this fight today when I have the opportunity. I've put in the work. Let my mind be clear and focused so I can execute to the best of my abilities. Jesus, let all glory today be yours and yours alone and let me win, lose, etc., in humility and giving all praise to you." "Father, remind me that I'm accepted by you fully in Jesus Christ as a son by faith. Whatever happens, today does not change that and I will come out of the ring as your child. Let this free me, and my family and my loved ones and my friends, from anxiety and fear of failure. Let me hold no grudges against coaches or my competitor today. No matter what they do, no matter how wicked, please allow me to forgive. Lord, let me give everything I have today and let me fight really well and find joy in you doing something you've made me do!!!" We all said Amen then let go of each other's hands.
"Mr. Díaz, it's time," He quickly gave me and Angelina a hug and a kiss each. "Guys, walk with me," He said looking at his father, Tony, Francisco, and Cesar. They all nodded and followed him outside, leaving me and Angelina in the room.
"I'll stay with Angelina," I turned around and saw my mom, James, and Marco smiling. "Go watch your man fight," Marco said. Angelina went to go sit with Marco to watch cartoons. "We'll be watching the fighting here," I nodded then I walked out to the first row of the seating area. "You're just in time," I looked behind me and saw Quincy laughing. "Don't talk to me, not here, not now, not ever,"
"Ooo, someone is snappy," He said. The lights turned off. I turned around and faced the ring. My main focus is Oscar right now.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Staple Center. I am the host for tonight, Mick Kelly and tonight, oh boy we have a special treat for you guys," The crowds began to scream loudly.
"In this corner, he weighs 245 pounds," The crowds started to scream even more. "People call him scary because they're scared of him. He is known as the Santos lord. But, his name is," Then everyone yelled out his name. "Spooky!" I yelled with the crowd. He and the guys walked out of his corner as he played California Love by Tupac as his background music.
Oscar noticed me and gave me a wink. I took the necklace out from my turtleneck dress and laid the glass flower on my chest. Making him smile. Cesar and Francisco sat with me, letting me be in between them.
"And, in this corner. He weighs 300 pounds. He's big and scary. He's known as the Santo killer. Here he is. The one and only. Big Mike." Meek Mills' Song Dreams and Nightmares came on. Along with red strobe lights. Quincy and his boys behind us jumped out of their seats and started to cheer, along with other people. Once he finally got into the ring, the referee got in the middle of them and held their hands.
"Boys, I wanted a clean and fair fight okay. You both get three-time outs. And that's all. Any questions." He says into the mic. They both shook heads. "Okay, then fight." The referee got out of the ring and they began to fight.
Oscar threw punches and a couple of right crosses is letting him pass the first round couple of rounds. Now we're at round 10.
Big Mike jabbed him then put him in a chokehold, causing me to get up. "Yo where the fuck is the referee. He's not allowed to do that," Francisco pulled me down into my seat. "This is the fight club, Marisol, there are no rules," Francisco shook his head as he continued to watch. Big Mike then Right crossed Oscar where the bullet grazed him causing him to groan loudly.
My eyes began to water. "You sure you can be in here right now?" Francisco nodded. I nodded as I shook my legs. Oscar came back by elbowing big mike in the nose then roundhouse kicked him since he was already bent over. "Let's go, baby! You only gotta make it to round fifteen." I yelled, cheering with the crowd.
12 minutes later and were at round fourteen. Each round lasted three minutes and I'm scared as hell. I was worried but now I'm scared., Big Mike has been beating Oscars' ass like badly since the tenth round. One eye is swollen and the other one is almost swollen. His ribs are bruised and he's just weak. Me, Francisco, and Cesar kept telling him to tap out every time he hit the floor. But he didn't listen.
Big Mike gave Oscar a good uppercut punch, causing him to fall flat on his face. I began to cry heavily, I lost control of my breath. "Let's get you out of here," Cesar tried to take my arm but I grabbed my arm back. "Bubba, just stay down. Please" I pleaded to his face. "Ma'am please stand back." The security guard said moving me back to my seat. I shook my head. "No, he's my husband and he needs to stay down," I finally sat down and what happens. Oscar gets up.
"Finish him off Big M," Quincy yelled behind me.
As he struggles to get up, he looks at me. "I love you Girasol," He mouthed. I shook my head as he finally got up. Cesar and Francisco hugged me down as I cried loudly. "Stop, Son." His dad yelled. Oscar tried to do one last swing but Big Mike gave him one last Uppercut, making his body float for five seconds then making him land on his face flat. "Oscar!" I scream. I'm trying to get up but they're still holding me down.
The referee brings a doctor to the ring to check Oscar's pulse. Then the doctor looked at me. He got out of the ring and squatted in front of me. "You're his wife right?" I nodded. "I'm sorry but I'm not feeling a pulse. He's gone, I'm truly sorry." I froze, letting my tears drop on my face. The doctor told the host then he announced it.
"Um, folks, I've just been informed that Oscar 'Spooky' Díaz has died." Two people went into the ring with a white sheet and covered his body with it. My body broke down. Francisco took me to his area in the back so I can 'catch my breath.'
"Hey, uh, I'm sorry for your loss, but good game," Quincy and some of the Prophet$ came to the back. I just stared at Quincy. "Leave me the hell alone," They walked out, then I felt a tap on my shoulder. "Where's daddy?"
