*continuing from where I left off in the last chapter*

"well I have to go inform chief bailey so I can resign and I'll be leaving from their...so this is goodbye"said Cormac to Lexie and Alex *they both hug him*
*he goes upstairs and packs his suitcase and heads back down to meet with Meredith she was going to go with him*
*at the hospital Cormac went into the chiefs office and resigned he walked out and his flight was in a few hours so he had to go to the airport already*

*they were in front of the doors of the hospital and Derek was upstairs and he saw them the whole time not on purpose...*
"well this is the part where I'm going to fall apart inside"
"I'm going to miss you"
"you were everything to me in this last year that we've been together...I'm sorry it was cut short...I would've loved to build a life with you"
"me too...you should probably go security is usually long here in Seattle...plus just seeing you is going to make me cry"
"bye Meredith..."*he pulls her in and hugs her and then he lets go and is walking out*
*meredith ran back to him and pulled him in and kissed him with tears in her eyes...she pulled away and left*
Dereks POV
I saw Meredith and Cormac talking and they both looked so sad... I saw the tears on merediths face and it hurt to see her sad. Once Meredith walked away from the kiss she came upstairs and tried to find a open on call room but they were all occupied so she went into a supply closet I followed her and I heard her crying and it wasn't my place to say anything...but I walked in anyways
*i found her in the ground falling apart she couldn't stop crying I wonder what happened*

"I can't breath *she hyperventilates* *derek hands her a bag to breath in*"

"yes thank you.*they stare into each others eyes in complete love* I better go...seriously Derek thank you"
*Meredith walks out...and Derek stays in the closet thinking about her...*

*a few days pass and Meredith took a leave of absence...it was hard for her to live without cormac...Lexie walks in*

"I can't"
"sure you can...look you need to rise above I know you can do it"
"Lexie...after I left derek I was broken and right now I feel empty...and now Cormac left he left and I cant- I can't breath*i start crying*"
"Meredith their was a difference between Derek and Cormac...Cormac wanted to stay if you would tell him to,but you knew that would be the worst mistake because you would be helding him back...Meredith you need to rise and rise high for yourself so please come to work"
"give me a few minutes to get ready"
*lexie was so proud she got Meredith to come to work with her*
*their at work now and in the attending lounge where it's empty until derek walks in...Meredith approaches him*

"I um wanted to apologize for the other day...I'm sorry you had to see that"
"no it's totally fine I'm glad I got to comfort you!!if you don't mind me asking and I know it's non of my business but what happened that day"
"your gonna know either way so why not just tell you...*they both sit down* um dr.hayes no longer works here...he got a once in a lifetime offer to work for the president"
"oh meredith im sorry"
"but that wasn't the reason I was crying...I'm sure you saw how we were talking before he left...he told me he would stay if I asked him too, he also told me that all this time together he spent with me was everything to him and he wouldn't ever trade it for anything else..."

"it reminded me of us...he told me I was everything to him...and it just reminded me of how much I wanted to be your everything derek,but that didn't happen...I also loved how he said he would stay for me, but I knew I will he keeping him from succeeding and it also reminded me of how I kept you from succeeding- I just felt like every person I love ends up leaving...and I-just- can't- anymore-"
"Meredith I know I told you this before but I was wrong back then my trial wasn't everything you were everything to me...and I wouldn't ever leave you I was a jerk back then...instead of leaving that night I should've let you talk to me, that way we could've prevented all this to happen"
"Derek it's okay it was for the best...I mean look at you, you're getting married tomorrow. I'm really happy that through everything that has happened your finally getting your happily ever after, you deserve it!"

"even if I go or if I don't...you have my blessing Derek...I'm happy for you and I want you to be happy and if rose makes you happy then I'll be happy for you*i smile at him and I hug him one last time and I walk out*"

after Meredith left...our memories came back all the good ones!!
