Amelia

As I was getting ready for today, I decided it might be time to quit ignoring Jay. I grabbed my phone as I put on my high heels and dialled his number.

"Hey," He greeted me and my whole body relaxed just at the sound of his voice and instantly I regretted ignoring him in the first place.

"Hi, I'm sorry for not calling sooner. I just- I don't know I think I needed some time to take it all in." I explained, bitting my nails nervously.

"Hey, no. It's fine, totally fine. I get it. Are you okay?" Jay's sweet voice asked me.

"I'll answer that later today I guess." I chuckled.

"Yeah, alright. Do you want me to pick you up?" He chuckled lightly before asking.

"Yeah, that'd be great." I smiled as he told me he'd be there soon. I was relieved he didn't ask me about what had been told in court yesterday. I knew it was something we'd have to talk about at some point but I was glad it wasn't now.

After all, we weren't officially dating but we definitely had something together. I don't know about him but on my side I was hoping we'd be together for a while.

As I waited for him, I retouched my makeup and my hair. I was extremely nervous and for some reason redoing thing helped ease my nerves. Jay texted me to tell me he was there so I hurried outside after grabbing everything I needed and walking to his car. As soon as I sat on the passenger seat, he greeted me with a sweet kiss. The feeling of his lips on mine made me forget about everything all at once. I smiled against his lips as one of my hands caressed his cheek. I felt his short beard against my fingers which made my heart flutter, I loved the look of a beard on him.

We pulled away after a while and he drove us to the courthouse. I sighed as we arrived and he grabbed my hand to pull me inside. His thumb rubbed against the top of my hand, calming me. We were let inside the courtroom and Jay sat down at the exact same place as yesterday along with Voight and my mom. The rest of the Intelligence team sat behind them, along with Will, Nat and Dr Charles. My attorney sat next to me, waiting for the judge to let us begin. I was going to testify and then if the attorneys had any more proofs they would present it and then the jury would decide of Charles' faith.

"Today, Detective Davis will testify. No objections allowed. Everything she says must be taken into consideration by the jury. But be careful Detective, try to state facts as much as you can. Thank you all for coming. Let's begin, Detective Davis you may come forward." The judge slammed the gavel down and all heads turned to me as I got up and walked to the front of the courtroom.

"Detective Davis, you may now present the events that lead up to today." The judge sat back, as I was lead up to a stand. I stood still for a few seconds before letting out a sigh as I scanned the room.

"On April 12th, I was sent undercover in Charles' gang so we could bust them for human trafficking. I was welcomed into the gang and the first week in I didn't have to do anything except drive the girls to where they would be sold either for sex or just sold. Then, Charles forced me to do drugs at parties. I had to do coke, weed and LSD. If I didn't, I'd either get beaten up or raped. On May 31st," I sighed, that was my birthdate, "it was the first time he raped me. He wasn't gentle about it either. Then," my voice got shaky, "Then, he, uh, did it again every day that week. The next week, he had hidden my pill and he did it again, multiple times. Those two weeks, I wasn't allowed out of my room and I had no contact with anyone other than him. When he let me out, I was forced to go with the girls and sell my body for money." A tear fell down my cheek and I hurriedly wiped it.

"A few weeks later, on June 29th, I convinced Charles to get me a pregnancy test. When it turned out positive, he didn't waste any time before shoving anything he could find up my vagina until I bled. Then, he, uh," Tears just kept flowing at this point and I stopped trying to keep them in, "Make me take all kinds of drug so it'd kill the baby. After some time, he decided I had healed enough. So I went back to my normal routine, except I didn't want to have sex with strangers anymore so instead he decided that me getting raped by his friends would make up for it. A few more beating here and there and then September came around and so did Detective Halstead." I breathed in and out deeply before ending my story quickly with moments that fitted the charges we wanted to drop on Charles.

I went back to my seat and waited as both attorneys resumed all the things that had came out during each of their interrogations. They reminded the jury of the important points and facts before sitting back down as well. No one had more evidence to show so we were dismissed for two hours to let the jury make their decisions. It was quite a short amount of time but I guess the case wasn't as important as it felt to me.

I was locked in a room with my attorney and my thoughts, hoping that she'd reassure me or let me see someone else at least but she never did. I was stuck waiting with her, knowing that Jay and everyone else who came to support me was just on the other side of the door, waiting.

The two hours were the longest ones I had ever waited through. But once they were over, we were invited back into the courtroom to listen the jury announced their decision. Everyone sat down at the exact same place.

"Members of the Jury, have you reached a verdict?"

"Yes your Honour, we have." The jury spokesman announced, rising from his seat.

"Members of the Jury, in the case of Detective Amelia Davis and Charles Roomey, what do you say?"

"Your Honour, the members of the Jury find the defendant guilty on the following charges :  aggravated assault and sexual assault." Silence filled the room.

"This court is adjourned." The judge announced before getting up and letting everyone but Charles leave as well.
