The world went dark. Izuku floated in the black pool that surrounded him for a bit, hearing screams around him and yet no one was there.
A light appeared, small and insignificant until it spread, washing light over him.
He stood there, watching as a river appeared before him and... himself?
A memory?
Smaller Izuku was running down the bank of the river, moving towards someone in the water-
Bakugou.
Izuku felt it when the explosions hit, the pain hitting him, just like it had hit his younger self.
His memory self mirrored him, clutching his arm and crying softly.
Bakugou yelled the hurtful words, his older voice and his younger one drifting into one big jumbling mess.
The memories swirled around him, almost like a pick and mix. He backed away from the ones that hurt the most, the ones whose image was burned into his eyes, and burned into himself.
It felt so real, every second killing him to even be there, having to witness the hurt he had gone through, multiple times, or he was in the place where his younger self had been. Hurting, screaming, clawing for breath.
In one, Bakugou's lackies shoved his head underwater until he passed out. He could still taste it in his mouth, his lungs aching as he held his breath until he couldn't anymore and he tried to breathe but the water entered his lungs, gulped down, drowning him, he was going to drown, he couldn't breathe, there was no air to get, drowning, drowning, drowning-
The next memory moved along, surrounding him with its hurt. He heard All Might's words over and over in his ear, too many times to count until they became a distant buzz and he tried to get away but he couldn't-
'Be realistic, be realistic, be realistic, be realistic, not a hero, not a hero, never a hero-'
Izuku blinked and he was suddenly thrust into a middle school classroom.
His middle school classroom.
He stood there, more tears streaming down his cheeks, screams ripped from him somewhere else, in some other distant place he couldn't see.
Bakugou took his notebook and burned it, the room smelling of his sweet, sweet sweat.
Izuku tried, he truly tried to close his eyes and ears but the words reverberated in his head, bouncing along his skull until all he could hear were that taunting sentence, the one he had considered for the longest time.
"Take a dive off the roof."
Take a dive off the roof.
Take a dive off.
Take a dive.
Dive.
Izuku's eyes shot open.

Twice carried Eri gently into another room. She clung to him, both loving and hating the fact she had been taken away from Izuku. His screams had hurt her, wanting to heal him and yet the malnourishment of no food and only sips of water for days was taking its toll on her.He set her down, leaving the dark room quietly.
There was a bed and a barred window, the room bare apart from that.
Her eyes gazed out at the night sky, so dark and clouded she could barely see the stars.
Still, she wished for hope.

Aizawa rubbed his eyes tiredly, wishing this shit was fucking over with.
The room was filled with people shouting at each other, arguing over the best way to rescue Eri and Midoriya. They needed it to be silent and yet quick, although many of the pros thought they should take down the League now, while they have the reason and know where the base is.
