Don't Play Dumb

"Well well well." The blue eyed boy looks down at me.

"Are you even surprised I'm here?" I scoff, raising an eyebrow.

"I'm going to, um." Devyn squeezes by us, as she passes Colby she turns around and motions for me to text her. I nod my head and smile.

"I'm not surprised." He replies. "I'm actually glad."

"You're glad?" I roll my eyes playfully. "Aren't you pissed at me?"

"Why would I be mad at you?" He grabs a loose strand of my hair and puts it behind me ear.

"Hey guys!" I jump as the voice next to us identified as Brennen.

"Hey!" I say and give him a hug.

"What's up man!" Brennen hugs Colby. "Whatcha guys up to?"

"We're just talking." I reply smiling.

Brennen looks at me and then looks at Colby, who's smirk is driving me crazy.

"Anyway," Brennen's gaze moves to me. "How are you?"

"I'm good, how are you?" I look over at Colby who's jaw was clenched. Perfect.

"I miss hanging out with you." I continue with Brennen.

"I miss hanging out with you too." He says. "We should go get In N Out again sometime."

I can see Colbys face turn a shade of pink.

"Yes!!" I say, "I've been craving those animal fries."

"Hey bro." Colby grabs Brennen's shoulder suddenly. "Let's go play some BP."

"Ay for sure let's do this! Wanna come Candy?" Brennen asks.

"Nah, I'm going to go find Devyn."

"Suit yourself." He says. He walks off and just before Colby follows him, he turns around and winks at me.

Something about seeing them walk off together makes me feel extremely uneasy.

"Hey!" Devyn pops up from behind me. "This is Kat."

I spin around to face them both.

"Hi!" I smile at the blue haired girl. "I'm Candy."

"Ugh love your name." She smiles back. "I'm Sam's girlfriend."

"Oh I didn't know Sam had a girlfriend! Explains why he's more in line than Colby is." I say while they both start giggling.

"That's true though." Kat says.

"Let's go outside it's so hot in here." Devyn says as we make our way to the backyard. As we come closer to the door I hear a cheer from the right of me. I look over and see Colby and Brennen playing the game.

Right as I look at Colby, he looks up at me. Our eyes lock, just as he throws the ball.

The butterflies in my stomach erupt as I'm reminded of the events from Corey's birthday. The first night, this all started.

"So, not going to lie, Devyn told me about you and Colby." Kat says. We had found some lawn chairs to sit on that were a little secluded from the rest of the groups.

"Oh." I grimace. "Yeah..."

"Don't worry." She says. "I love it."

"You love it? Why?" I raise an eyebrow. I would've thought that if someone had heard about the situation they would look at me as a slut or degrade me.

"Yeah, its driving him crazy." She leans forward. "He deserves it."

"What do you mean it drives him crazy?" I tease the conversation to hear something I may want to use against him.

"Well first of all." Devyn interrupts. "He's constantly on his phone."

"So?" I shrug my shoulders.

"I walked by him a couple times to see and he's either on your instagram page or on your texts, trying to figure out something to say."

I grin.

"And!" Kat adds. "Since him and Sam are bestfriends, you know he tells him everything. And because of that, Sam then tells me everything."

"Wait so you probably know more than I even do." My thoughts swarm each other over what she could really know.

"I may not know more than you, but I definitely have some inside knowledge." She smiles.

"Oh my god you have to tell me everything." I plead.

"How about we all get together tomorrow for coffee or something and we can talk about everything." She says.

"I'm down!" Devyn raises her hand.

"Me too." I grin.

"Candy!" I hear my name being called. I look up and behind Kat where I see a particularly angry looking Colby.

"Colby?" I stand up.

"We need to talk." He says. He grabs my arm and pulls me aside. Kat and Devyn stand up to help me but I motion them to sit down.

"I'll be right back." I tell them, as they sit back down.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" His eyes pierce through me and it makes me very uncomfortable.

"What?" I step back a little bit.

"Don't play dumb." He growls. Something about those choice of words hit me really hard in my soft spot.

"I don't know what you're talking about Colby."

He runs his hand through his hair. "You kissed Brennen?"
