"Umm Candy?" I hear my name being called from my sleep. I roll over in bed and slowly open my eyes to see Franny standing in my doorway.
"What." I groan and rub my eyes.
"Someone's here to see you." She says.
"What? What time is it?" I look at my phone and read the time. 11:30 am.
I look back at the doorway and see Franny step back as Sam walks past her.
"Sam?" I sit up and squint my eyes. "What are you doing here?"
"I need to talk to you." He says. "As a secret agent." He whispers the last part and looks back at Franny.
She smiles and rolls her eyes before closing the door.
"Come here." I pat the bed next to me and he sits down. "What is it?"
"I heard Colby talking on the phone last night when we got home." He says.
"So?" I look at him weirdly.
"Candy, I think he staged that guy coming in and grabbing you." He says.
"He what???" My jaw drops and my eyes widen. "How do you know? What was he saying?"
"He was saying things like 'good job tonight', 'she didn't suspect a thing' and something about how they didn't have to grab you so tightly." Sam says.
"Well obviously it seems like he was talking to the guy from last night." I cross my arms. "But why?"
"You did kind of let your guard down." He says.
"Let my guard down?" I repeat what he says, confused.
"When we all left, and it was just you two, seemed like you let your guard down and weren't playing the game anymore." Sam says. "Not that Kat and I were staring." He puts his hands up and laughs nervously.
"He tried to get my to lose the game, that's why he didn't kiss me. He wanted me to admit my feelings for him, based on what he did for me." I scoff. "That son of a bitch."
"Pretty clever of him, but how did he know you were going to be there?" He asks.
"It probably wasn't the best idea to choose the bar closest to me rather than you guys." I roll my eyes. "He probably knew it was a setup from the get-go."
"So what do we do now?" He asks.
"I'm extremely glad you're down for all of this." I smile. "But I have no idea what to do."
"Understandable." He says.
"I think I've been trying to put so much time and energy and making him lose that it's becoming noticeable." I cross my arms. "I think Colby is going to be expecting it from now on."
"Soooo.." Sam's face is plastered with confusion.
"I'm just not going to try anymore." I reply. "If he wants to play, it's his move."
"Oohh." Sam says. "I like that."
"I still need you to be my secret agent though." I say. "Keep me updated on his potential plans."
"I got you." He says. "Another question."
"Yeah?"
"It's noon why are you still in bed." He stands up. "As your secret agent I command you to get out of bed and eat a bowl of cereal."
I sit there, eyes wide at Sam.
"Secret agent?? More like mom?" I smile widely when I notice that Sam can't keep his smile contained.
"I'd be a good mom." He says.
"Yeahhh you would not gonna lie." I laugh.
"Alright!" Sam starts walking towards the door. "I gotta go, talk to you later!"
"Hey Sam." I say his name and he turns around. "Thank you for everything you're doing."
"Are you kidding me?" He throws his head back and laughs. "I fucking love this."
He walks out and closes the door.
I lay back on my bed and let out a sigh.
"Balls in your court Brock."
