The Demon War

Chapter 5 (Cael Arc)

Me and Cael were in the cafeteria reading a bit more about the demon war. "Oh, learning a bit more about history?" Aubry walks up to us as we nodded. "Cael has been getting these dreams lately, it's all connected to the demon war. So me and Cael wanna figure out these dreams" I said as Aubry nodded sitting down with us. "Oh, you also invited the demon boy?" Aubry said looking at Robert, Robert didn't say a word but he did nods. "Hmm, maybe it's not the history of the demon war, maybe it's just me and you?" I said as Cael thinks about it for a bit before nodding. "Well, on Sunday, you wanna look around?" Cael asked as I nodded smiling. 

"I'm gonna visit his parents today" I said as Aubry nodded but also look a bit confused. "Wait, why only you?" He asked as I shrugged, "They just ask me to go alone every time I want to visit, I don't get why though". Aubry nodded, "Well, talk to y'all later!" He said waving while walking off. I walk off to where his parents are. 

I walked in front of their door and knocked on the door. A mother walks in, her warm sweet smile always can't help but warm my heart. "Gabriel," She said as I smiled. "It's a surprise to meet you, please come in. Would you like some tea?" She asked as I nodded walking in. I begin to explain to her why I'm here, as I started to explain her expression slowly begin to change. She sighs looking down, "And those dreams, is connected to the demon war, right?" She asked as I nodded. "Yes, he also said that he lost someone important. He honestly feels guilty about forgetting that person". The mother sigh looking down before getting up walking to grab something. She'd walk back and show me a picture, it was her, me, Cael's father, and another person. "Who is-". She sighs looking at me with a painful look, "It's..it's Cael's brother" She said as I look at her in shock. "He...He has a brother?", she nodded sighing. "Cael brother...Haniel..he's...out there" She said looking down. "Well, we can find-"She shook her head looking down, "I'm sorry, but y'all gotta cancel y'all adventure!" She shouted getting up before walking off. "W-Wai-", before I could reach her the door slammed and close. I sigh looking down. 

I couldn't tell Cael what just happen, I decided to keep what just happened a secret. Me and Cael were walking around the town finding clues about his dream. "Hmm, we did go to the battleground, I did kinda saw his face clearly" Cael sighs. I look at the clouds, it was gonna rain soon so we gotta make this quick. Cael chuckled looking at the river, "I remember when we sailed a boat together, it was fun" He said smiling. He slowly begins to remember his brother, but he doesn't know. I wonder what happens when he does, will he be happy? Sad? Maybe angry at his parents? I don't know. But for now, I gotta keep quiet. Cael noticed a hospital, "...A hospital...I feel a bit weird" He said as I gently grab him by the shoulders, he was a bit tense up but slowly begins to calm down. He turns to me smiling, "I'm alright, Gabe, I'll be fine" He said as I nodded worriedly. 

I slowly begin to put all the pieces together. First, Cael begins to have his dreams about someone he lost, then I learn a bit more about his brother, he gets tense seeing a hospital. Didn't he-I shook my head. I don't wanna jump the guns yet, but if he did...would it break Cael's heart? It begins to storm, me and Cael were running to our school when we noticed something, was it...an animal? "Huh?" I stopped and walk over to the animal. Oh, it looks like the animal was shot by a demon. "Demons, they always gotta kill the innocents," I said. "..." Cael didn't say a word, he just stood there staring at the dead animal. Then, his mouth finally opens as he said...

"Why?"

It sounds like he's in deep pain like he finally remembers everything. And then, he fell on his knees and cry his heart out, he held his head as if he was not accepting reality. "N-No...he's not dead..he can't be dead! He's just a lost soul! He's just...wondering around the town! He can't be!" Cael shouted. My eyes widen as I instantly run-up to him and hold him tightly. I couldn't see his eyes, but he was crying and repeating himself like he was a complete broken record.
