soonhoon fluff

soonyoung was jihoon's star.

***

jihoon wandered the streets of seoul, humming to himself as he walked to who knew where. it didn't really matter, though.

he just needed some fresh air, so going on a short walk seemed to be the best option for him. maybe he could call soonyoung and they could walk together?

no... i don't want to come across as annoying, jihoon bit his cheek. the amount of times that he wanted to hangout with his best friend, but chose against it, were countless at this point. he didn't want to annoy soonyoung, which he convinced himself that his presence in general annoyed the older. jihoon didn't know why someone like soonyoung would ever bother to spare the younger a glance.

see, soonyoung meant everything to jihoon. he was jihoon's universe. there would've been no way for jihoon to make it throughout school if it weren't for his best friend. he cherished soonyoung, he loved soonyoung with all his heart. the only problem was that he never expressed his love. all he did was tease the older and every time he felt terrible doing it. he wanted nothing more than to express his love for soonyoung, but he tended up and lied every single time he wanted to. jihoon tended to pretend that he hated everyone when he got scared of nervous.

jihoon let out a sigh, running his hand through his hair as he thought of the older.

he was everything that jihoon wasn't. soonyoung was talkative and outgoing, while jihoon was practically silent. soonyoung was persistent, while jihoon gave up and cried the second he couldn't reach his goal. soonyoung was adorable, while jihoon.. wasn't. soonyoung loved, while jihoon hated.

so, why on earth was soonyoung so willing to stick by jihoon's side?

jihoon looked up at the sky. the stars shone brightly that night, and the boy smiled at that. stars always reminded him of soonyoung- maybe that was because when he first met soonyoung, the older went by hoshi. he grew out of that nickname, but jihoon believes that soonyoung will forever be hoshi in his heart.

he let out a small chuckle, thinking about when soonyoung was young and obsessed japanese culture- well, not much has changed, because he still does now, but still. soonyoung would always go by hoshi because he wanted to be a star. no one agreed to call him that other than jihoon.

the boy let his eyes return to the ground as he continued to walk. should i call soonyoung? it would cure my boredom and maybe... maybe soonyoung wouldn't mind me caring for once.

he hesitantly picked up his phone and opened it, getting to his recent calls screen. jihoon stared at soonyoung's number, biting his lip as he determined whether to call the older or not.

then he hit the button.

ring.

ring.

ring.

jihoon let out a sigh. of course, soonyoung wouldn't pick up. why the fuck would someone like soonyoung want to hangout with someone like m-

"hoonie?"

the young put his phone up to the ear as he heard soonyoung's voice coming out of it. it calmed all of jihoon's self deprecating and anxious thoughts, making him smile widely, "uh- hi, hoshi,"

a small chuckle could be heard from the other side of the call, "why'd you call me so late at night? i was about to get ready to sleep before you called me,"

"a-ah, then just ignore that i ever called you then," jihoon silently cursed at himself. unlike you, soonyoung is actually somewhat healthy and sleeps at a decent time, you simpleton. "you need the sleep,"
