every love story has a heartfelt confession- a moment when the two main characters tell each other their love.

***

every love story starts with two soulmates meeting each other- a moment where they take notice of the person they'll fall for, whether they know it then or not. it was a given, since two people can't fall in love without meeting each other.

this love story starts with two ordinary college students. one who just started working at the local cafe to pay for school and food and one who can't survive without his morning hot chocolate.

"hello, welcome to the cherry ghost!"

hong jisoo smiled widely as the door opened. the person who walked in looked almost intimidating. with messy, black hair covering his forehead and a blank expression on his face. he was wearing a black sweatshirt and matching sweatpants. though, he did look... just slightly- slightly attractive.

"what would you like to uh- order?" jisoo asked.

"i'll have a hot chocolate," the man smiled, making him a lot less scary. he was almost... almost cute, "thank you,"

jisoo started making the hot chocolate, with the stranger still standing there outside the counter. why not start some friendly conversation? "do you happen to go to the nearby college?"

"hm?"

"since you and i look about the same age, i was wondering,"

"oh, yeah. i do. what's your major?"

"art. what about you?"

"practical music. sad that we won't be seeing each other around campus,"

"mhm,"

"is today your first day here?"

jisoo nodded, sliding the hot chocolate over to the stranger, "do i seem that lost?"

"not at all. it's just that i come here every day, so i'd know you if you worked here longer,"

"ah. well, that'll be 2-"

he was cut off by the stranger placing down the right amount of money, two dollars and thirty seven cents. then, he grabbed his hot chocolate and gave jisoo two dollars. upon seeing jisoo's confused expression, he smiled, "they don't actually give the tips in the tip box to who's working. i've learnt to give it directly to the person,"

"oh. you don't have to-"

"but i want to," he cut off. "when are you working next?"

"tomorrow morning,"

"perfect. i'll see you then?"

"can i- uh- get a name? to call you by?" jisoo asked hesitantly. "if you don't... uh, mind- that is,"

the stranger chuckled at jisoo's nervousness, "i'm seungcheol. choi seungcheol. and you are?"

"i'm joshua. or jisoo. you'd probably rather call me jisoo- because- you know- korean. but like. technically my name is- i'm a mess,"

"then i'll see you tomorrow, jisoo," he spoke with another chuckle.

"i'll look forward to it,"

every love story has a realization- a moment where they realize that they person they're talking to is the love of their life.

of course this has to happen, or else the story can't truly progress.
