"no, wait. please. i wont kill you. just... just please let me have a drink,"

generally, junhui was a good vampire.

364 days of the year, he'd take care of his thirst for blood by drinking blood packets. those came from large animals that him (and many other vampires) would kill during the new years. they'd kill more than enough- and some brave vampires would kill way too much, so that they could sell it for those who ran out during the year. or for those who needed extra during the blood lust.

blood lust varied from vampire to vampire. though most weren't that impacted. just one day of craving more blood than usual. no- not craving. needing. without the extra blood, their bodies would be too weak to move the next day. if you didn't have blood as soon as blood lust was over, chances are that you'd die. but it was fine for most, they just needed an extra packet of blood to last them the day. worst case scenario, theyd need five extra.

junhui was a little different, though.

during blood lust, he couldn't handle just an extra packet of blood. not even five. not even ten. his parents had no idea why his body was so weak after all of that blood. he would only gain energy when he was forced more blood after the day of blood lust had passed.

for the first thirteen years of his life, he was unable to have any energy on blood lust day. it wasn't until he was fourteen that he tried something new.

he remembers the day vividly. in fact, a little too vividly.

junhui remembers the name of the poor kid, which was hana. he remembers that he had no control of his body. he remembers that he kept telling himself to stop, but his body wouldn't comply- he was too blood drained. he remembers the feeling of dread when he realized that he'd just killed a person.

but he also remembers that he didn't feel weak. or drained. or desperate for help. for the first time on blood lust day, he felt powerful.

every year after that, he would find someone small and weak (normally a child or an elder), lead them somewhere private, and kill them. as bad as it sounded, he was still better than some vampires. some vampires went and killed people all year long. so at least jun only did it once a year, right?

he just knew that he never wanted to feel so helpless and lifeless ever again. so he did what he had to.

blood lust day came, as it did every year. and jun wasn't prepared. he forgot what day it was. the only way he found out was when he woke up at three am with a desperate need of blood, and that need didn't go away after chugging a blood pack.

he immediately recognized the situation and got ready to go outside. it wasn't too late to find someone, right?

barely any people filled the streets, though everyone there was too focused on where they were going to notice junhui. the young vampire's eyes wandered, searching for his next victim. it wasn't going to be that long until his craving of blood turned into absolute, desperate need. it was about three in the morning, and he lived in what was probably the most popular part of town.

maybe he could follow some little kid home. something. anything.

he walked along the streets for who knew how long. while he was thinking about who his victim would be, everyone had already gone their ways. he couldn't even see a single person on the streets. and his need for human blood was growing.

after he grew too tired to keep walking, he had to sit down against a building. was he seriously going to have to sleep outside? there was no way that he'd have enough energy to make it to his small apartment. it was too far away and he didn't have the right kind of blood to give him the energy he needed.
