calm air filled the city.

jeonghan was on his way back home from work, and it was at an awfully late time of night. was it two? three? at this point, jeonghan wasn't sure and was much too tired to care. he just silently prayed that he could finally get a car soon so that he could stop walking home so late.

he just ran a hand through his messy hair and continued walking, praying that he wouldn't fall asleep.

"fuck off,"

hm? jeonghan wasn't sure if the noise he heard was in his head from the sleep deprivation or actually real.

"the fuck did you say to me?"

"i told you to fuck off. because i'm pretty sure that you don't want me to get angry."

"oh? and what are you gonna do?"

at this point, jeonghan was pretty sure that it wasn't just happening in his head. the voices seemed to get louder with every step he took.

then he heard a gunshot.

"weak. who brings a gun to a fist fight? i thought that you really were something, you know? guess i was wrong,"

jeonghan was certainly very close to where everything was happening. by that he means that he could see one of the men standing in the nearby alleyway. the man in question was the gunless one. he was standing there with his arms crossed, almost in a taunting manner.

his hair was a light shade of blue, and on his forehead sat a darker blue bandana. a white t-shirt and sweatpants sat on his body, nothing that screamed 'im going to get in a fight'. jeonghan told himself to stop staring, but he was intrigued by the man's eyes.

the man's eyes weren't technically anything special, just a nice shade of brown. but for some reason, the emotion behind it made the hairs on the back of jeonghan's neck crawl. his gaze was terrifying, and jeonghan wasn't sure how the other man was able to hold a gun in his presence. the man's eyes flickered over.

a small smirk formed on his lips- a way to show that he noticed jeonghan's presence-, for less than a millisecond, before his eyes returned to his opponent and the sides of his lips dropped, resuming his previously unamused look.

"i'm only using my resources,"

"and being a coward. drop the gun and we can settle this fairly,"

another gunshot.

jeonghan dropped into a ball, covering his eyes in his knees. now, he was certainly awake. he wanted nothing more than to pass through the alley and just go to his house, but he knew that the two would notice if he did that. and the last thing he wanted was to get dragged into that fight.

"you must have bad aim, huh?"

"don't play with me, choi. i know that that hurt you. no need to lie- you think i haven't realized how weak you truly are?"

"i thought you would've learned by now,"

a small pause of silence, before a loud grunting sound. then 'choi' whispered, so quiet that jeonghan could only barely make out his words, "weak is the last word you'd use to describe me,"

as soon as he said those words, he stepped out of the alleyway, letting out a small huff of pain that he'd been holding in. jeonghan looked up from his knees.

"you can go home now. or wherever you were headed," choi looked jeonghan in the eyes as he spoke. but jeonghan was instead looking somewhere else.

choi's arm was bleeding intensely. it clicked in jeonghan's mind that that was where the other shot him. then choi seemed to notice where jeonghan was looking.
