Today's the day I had looked forward to my entire Junior year, Prom. The guys were going to be in their nicest suits and the girls in their prettiest dresses or suits whichever they preferred.
Everyone is getting ready for one of the best nights of their life and I'm stuck at home listening to Sophie complain about how her dress doesn't look good on her.
I wish I could be with my friends enjoying one of the best nights of my life but I had to make a dumb mistake that ruined it.
Sophie is standing in the middle of my floor looking at my mirror rolling her eyes.
"I hate this dress so much, it's just so ew." She spins around in a circle and I can finally tell she's just gonna go with the dress she's wearing.
Sophie has always been pretty, growing up most kids at school would tell me I was adopted because of how pretty Sophie was. Tonight isn't any different she looks beautiful, she's wearing a silk dark green dress that's touching the floor and her hair is in her usual style, curls.
"Sophie you look amazing in that dress, stop complaining, and go enjoy the prom." I huff and throw my head into my pillow and scream.
"Jacob," Sophie puts her hand on my shoulder and smiles at me. "I know we don't have the best relationship and I'm so sorry that I haven't been here for you since we moved here and that I've been too busy doing me." She hugs me and I jump a little. Sophie hasn't hugged me since middle school and it's surprising.
"It's okay, I love you now get out there and you enjoy the best night of your life. I always have next year this is your senior year." I smile at her and she gives me one more hug before she gets up and leaves.
For the next hour, my dads made me take photos of them with Sophie and Joey and with both of them with their dates and all that other stuff that I wished I was doing.
"Have fun tonight kids and be safe." My dads yell from the front door as they pull off down the road.

I hate social media, but Snapchat most of all. I didn't have that many people from school but the ones that I did have they spent most of their night posting videos of them enjoying prom.
"Jacob, someone's here to see you." My dad yells from downstairs, I put my phone down and ran to the stairs.
"Omg Jacob! Why aren't you ready?" Grace says standing at the bottom of the stairs smiling at me.
"Ready for what?" I 'm confused, to say the least. Grace was supposed to be at prom enjoying her night.
I walk down the stairs hugging her with a puzzled look on my face.
"For prom dummy!" She grabs my hand and pulls me upstairs to my room. My dad follows us and places a suit on my bed.
"Have fun tonight son." He kisses my head and walks out of the room.
"But- I can't go to prom." Grace smiles at me and laughs.
"Leave that up to me and the guys." She winks and closes my door for my change.
Once I was done getting dressed I walked downstairs to where Grace and my dads were. My dads smiled at me while Grace clapped and cheered before running up to me and giving me another hug.
"Okay, we're ready to wreck a prom. Don't worry dads I'll have him home before midnight." Grace laughs and we head out to the prom I'm supposed to be nowhere near.
