“You’re telling me, the smartest boy in our year needs tutoring?”
There was a hostile tone in your voice, almost a scoff escaped your lips as Professor Flitwick looks down at his two students, he felt nervous at the hostile energy that was slowly devouring the classroom.
“I’m right next to you!” Draco snarled as you rolled your eyes as you looked at your charms teacher, who sighs and nods.
“Can’t it be any other person?” You asked Professor Flitwick.
“I would love if Hermione Granger would tutor Mr Malfoy here but, um, sources seem to state otherwise. You are the highest grade in your house, in out of your year, it’s only good that I would pair Mr Malfoy with a fellow housemate.”
You looked at Draco who grins at you as you rolled your eyes, “Okay, fine,” You accepted the offer, “Meet me at the Library, half an hour after quidditch practice on Friday, not a minute late.”
You stormed out of the Charms classroom, it’s not you don’t like Draco but he has this thing about being so arrogant and almighty when’s not that great in your eyes. Sure, you take pride in being a Slytherin, you make your family proud but there is a reason why Pride is a deadly sin.
“Hey (Y/n)!” Draco calls after you, running beside you as you head down for lunch that Wednesday afternoon.
“What is it Draco?”
“I was just thinking, can we have two sessions of charms?” You paused and turned around to look him, he abruptly stops and looks at you, “I just thought that one wouldn’t help me much.”
“Alright, Monday lunch, we both have a free period after lunch,” You nodded as you turn back around and headed back to the great hall.
“Okay...” Draco mumbles, just as you disappear from his sight he smacks his charms books into his head, “Idiot.”
It was all Pansy’s idea because Draco was flat out smitten by you, you were a good catch for a sore eye, and by Merlin’s name, Draco would and could put you higher in his belief in blood status. Entering the great hall, he sees you sitting with your friends at the Slytherin table, he begrudgingly sat with his friends, trying to ignore the laughter you were expressing.
“So, is he tutoring you?” Pansy asked as Blaise looked mildly amused.
“Yeah, yeah he is,” Draco nods, as Pansy clapped her hands happily whilst Blaise pats Draco on the back.
“Look alive, sunshine,” Blaise teased, “Thought you’d be happy that you’d be spending quality time with the great and ridiculously handsome (Y/n)?”
“Shut up!” Draco hushes his best friend as you looked over to his group upon hearing your name.
You rolled your eyes and turned back to your group, Draco was convinced that you hated him. You were nice enough to wish him to play well during the quidditch match whilst you play Keeper, you always seem to be put off him when he’s talking to Harry and you always seem to scoff quietly when he talks.
He just wants to know what’s your deal while concealing a big fat crush on you.
“Do you actually need a tutor or...?” You asked him on the second week, Monday morning and that afternoon was the third session, “I mean, just saying, you’re not that bad at Charms than you think you are.”
Draco shrugs as he sits on his bed, the two of you were alone in the dorm. He was tying his laces whilst you were fixing your hair in the long mirror and doing up your tie, you looked at Draco through the mirror.
“Well, yeah I do since Flitwick-”
“Draco,” You raised an eyebrow, “You are the smartest boy in our year and you’re telling me you’re failing Charms, one of the easiest subjects to learn.”
Draco paused as you paused in your tie, “Your tie is horrible, (Y/n), you’d think almost five years being here you’d learn how to tie a tie.”
“Draco, don’t avoid my question.”
Draco sighs as he comes up to you and swats your hands away from you fiddling your green and silver tie. You stare at him as he undoes your tie and ties it properly for you. You could feel the heat rise from your neck and you were sure that Draco was flushing red but it was stupidly dark down in the dungeons.
“I might have purposely failed Charms,” Draco admits, feeling nervous under your watchful eyes, “I wanted to spend more time with you, really, I wanted to know more about you.”
“You’re in prime position to strangle me to death,” You say, awkwardly cutting in as Draco glares at you, “Sorry, just I get nervous in situations like this.”
“Yeah, well, you shouldn’t be, you’re like the hottest boy in our school or at least in our year so I’m not surprised if more guys asked you out.”
You chuckled and smiled, “You’d be surprised that doesn’t actually happen to me, often, so forgive me for being a little bit nervous.”
“Really?”
“Well, there is someone I’ve been waiting for, just on the fence on what he’s really thinking about me,” You confessed as you shrugged your shoulders.
“Yeah,” Draco says bitterly, fixing your collar as well, “I bet he’s a lucky guy since you’ve got a crush on him.”
Draco drops his hands from your tie as you smile gratefully at him as you pulled your pullover over your head and fixed your hair.
“You know, you could have just asked me....”
“Asked you for what?” Draco asked, pulling his robes on as you stared at him, “To get to know you? You’re not really the most welcoming person.”
“I believe that to get to know me is usually referred to as a date,” You smirked as Draco paused and snapped his head towards you, “I’m free this weekend, meet me in the courtyard at nine, we’ll go to Hogsmeade.”
You leave him, your bag on one shoulder as you held your robe on the other hand as Draco watch you smile and disappear to go get breakfast. Suddenly, he has a lot to tell Pansy and Blaise, and he’s somewhat excited for the weekend as he mutters quietly to himself.
“That sounds great.”
