chapter 20 the moment you have all been waiting for

i had eaten as much as i could possibly bare last night. i needed the energy to last long without using up my time to eat. i must confess coming back was a good idea. i had gotten the rest that i needed so i was completely prepared for the time to come. i got out my backpack and looked at my parents' gifts especially my fathers. don't worry dad i'm gonna find you, just hold on. then i walked downstairs to have breakfast. same as last night everyone looked sad. just as well as i did they knew they couldn't hold me back forever. i said my goodbyes and then walked out. it felt weird it felt just like some kind of vacation but i knew it definitely wasn't one. I had a mission and I would do everything in my power to fulfill it.

Williams POV

I was meeting up with Dolan today to hang out. I was excited for it, it had been ages since we hung out together. I knocked on his front door and Mark opened. he looked very sad, but when I came in and walked into the living room an even bigger shock was waiting for me. everyone looked sad. Shelby, Dolan, Gaby, Lily and as I just had seen Mark. ''hey everyone, what's wrong you all look incredibly sad?'' I asked. ''i'll explain to you later, but not here let's go to my room.'' Dolan said and I walked upstairs with him. we sat on his bed and I couldn't wait any longer. ''so what's up with all of you?'' I asked him. he looked at me with sad eyes. ''it's about Paris.'' he said I was all ear immediately. ''what about her?'' I asked worried. ''did you see the news report about the man wandering around?'' he asked. ''yes.'' I replied. of course I had everyone had it was breaking news in our neighborhoods. ''she's going after him.'' he said sadly. my heart stopped for a moment. ''what!?'' I exclaimed. ''why would she even do that?'' I said. ''he is her father. her father has been missing since the day of the attack but she was absolutely sure it was him. I believe it too that it was her father you could see the similarities.'' Dolan said. ''why don't you try and stop her?'' I asked sadly. ''we did but she wouldn't budge. we were able to make her stay tonight but immediately after breakfast she left.'' he explained. my heart dropped. she's already gone. ''I know you have tried but I didn't. do you know where she could be?'' I asked him. ''she promised us she would stay in this neighborhood for now." Dolan said." you don't mind me going right?" I asked him." no of course I get it. You like her." he said." what?!" I exclaimed." dude you can't hide it. It's incredibly obvious." he said." I'm gonna go." is said and then I walked out. My thought racing. Was it true what he said. Did I like Paris. Did I like that broken girl with the big brown eyes I could drown myself in. Was I in love with her long brown locks cascading down her back. Was I in love with that smile that could light up an entire world? I thought to myself. Looking at what I said there was no doubt. I had hopelessly and irrevocably fallen for Paris....

Paris POV
I had no idea where I was going, but then I found a parking lot. I remembered that it wasn't a very busy one so I started to go look there. I was on the second store when I heard something behind me. I hid behind the first thing I could find to not be seen. it was William. what the heck was he doing here. I now knew he was safe so I simply stood up and began searching again. ''Paris!'' he exclaimed. there was a certain relief in his voice but I couldn't quite understand why. I ignored him and kept on walking. ''Paris?'' he said. I still ignored him I was on a mission and that mission was to find my dad. ''Paris I know you can hear me. you might be mute but you're not deaf.'' he said. I flipped him off and he laughed. ''oh that's how you want to play it.'' he said with a chuckle that made my heart flutter. no Paris what is wrong with you, you're on a mission. I ignored him and walked towards the next level. ''Paris! stop ignoring me!'' he said. I was getting annoyed now, so I just thought let's figure out what he wants and then go on. I turned around and gestured: 'what?' he walked up to me. ''why are you doing this?'' he asked with a tone that made my heart break, so full of pain. I looked at him with a look that said more then words. ''yeah, yeah I know that you're trying to find your dad, but aren't there any easier ways to find him?'' he asked me. I was trying to say something but I couldn't I got out my phone and typed: because he murdered someone. he is considered a criminal how else will I be able to find him. now if you'll excuse me i'm continuing my search goodbye William. I hit the send button and walked away while he was reading it. ''no don't you dare walk away from this.'' William said while he came closer again. ''that message contains the exact reason i'm here. you said it yourself he is a murderer. I couldn't live with myself if anything happened to you and neither can your family.'' he said. this fueled my annoyance so much that it turned into pure anger. THEY. ARE. NOT. MY. FAMILY! my real family is out there and that's exactly why i'm here. to find my family. I hit send again and started walking again until the realization of what he just had said kicked in. I froze on the spot. I turned around to face William. ''what?'' he said. why can't you live with yourself if anything happened to me? I wrote and hit the send button. ''not only me Paris but Shelby, Dolan, Gaby, Lily and Mark too. do you know what you are doing to them right now?'' he said. he was avoiding the question and trying to change the subject, well not gonna happen. don't try to change the subject! i simply wrote and i hit send. ''because i care about you Paris.'' he said quietly. you what? i typed. ''you really want to hear me say it don't you?'' he said looking me in the eyes. ''i like you Paris. A lot'' he said with a look in his eyes that made a billion butterflies fly in my stomach and my knees feel like jelly. i was dumbfounded. he liked me. i got out my phone but William came closer and pushed my hand down again. ''not the phone please.'' he said. i pointed at William, made a heart with my hands and then pointed at myself. ''yes Paris i like you.'' he said. i got a questioning look in my eyes. ''do you want to know why?'' he asked confused. i nodded my head eagerly. he chuckled. ''well how could i not. you're strong, passionate, funny and absolutely beautiful.'' he said walking closer and closer to me. he leaned his forehead against mine and put his arms around my waist. i closed my eyes and thought. did i like him too? when i looked at him i felt different, he made me feel like a normal person. he made me feel wanted and those eyes. i could drown in those eyes. i thought about that day on the beach, when he held me in his arms it just felt right. it was out of the question I had hopelessly and irrevocably fallen for William. i opened my eyes again and leaned back a little. i pointed at myself, made a heart with my hands and then pointed at William. ''you like me too.'' William said. i nodded my head with a smile and he smiled back. he came closer and closer until our lips met in the middle. i put my hands on his chest and his stayed around my waist. when we broke apart my face turned sad. ''what is it?'' William said worried while he put a loose lock of hair behind my ear. ''you still want to go. don't you?'' he said. i nodded my head. ''look i get it Paris, but i don't want anything happening to you. so here is my idea. we are going to search for him together okay?'' he said. i looked up at him and nodded. ''okay good, but we need to take care of ourselves. we are going to go back to the house and when we're going to find him using the internet. not wandering around and hoping you might stumble upon him.'' he said sternly. i nodded my head. he kissed the top of my head and hand in hand we walked back to the house.

*a few months later*

William and i had grown really close. we were almost inseparable even at school. he had asked me one month ago to officially be his girlfriend and i accepted. we still didn't stop looking for my dad but right now he wasn't seen anywhere so we couldn't go and search right now. William had showed me that there are more important things right now and i understand that now. i walked into school and put my jacket in my locker. i then turned around and saw William standing with his back to me talking to Gaby. i smiled to myself and took a sprint. then i jumped on his back covering his eyes with my hands. he had instinctively catched me and now was holding my legs with his arms. ''are you trying to kill me Paris? and yes i know it is you because you are the only one who would do such a thing. well you and Gaby but she's standing in front of me.'' he said. i removed my hands from his eyes and he immediately got punched by Gaby playfully. ''what? it's true. you've done it a hundred times. i'm surprised my back didn't give out yet.'' he said in a playful tone. ''thankfully Paris here-'' he started moving around so i almost fell off. ''is light as a feather.'' he finished with a smile. i leaned over to the side and looked at him. ''ah there you are. i was wondering where you went.'' William said and he leaned over to me and give me a quick peck on the lips. ''you guys are so incredibly cute.'' Gaby said to us. i smiled at her and hopped out of Williams hold. William put his hands around my waist and let his head rest on the top of my head. we talked for a moment and when the bell rang we went to class. when it was time for break i sat in the cafeteria waiting for the others. William had German and i didn't so i waited for him to arrive. then i overheard a conversation of three girls a year lower than me. ''have you seen that William guy from a year higher. he's definitely the hottest guy in the entire school.'' one girl said. ''i wish i could be his girlfriend.'' another girl said. ''you know what i'm just gonna ask him out.'' the last girl said. oh hell no, hands off he's mine. i got my notebook and wrote something in three pages.

i walked over to the girls and tapped on their shoulder they looked at me. i showed them the first page. flipped the page and showed them the second one and then flipped over the last page to show them the last one. ''yeah sure. William would never date an ugly, stupid and mute girl like you.'' one of them said. right on time William walked in and i waved at him. he saw me and smiled at me while walking over. he reached me and put his arms around my waist and then kissed me. ''hey, did you miss me?'' he said with a smile. i smiled back and looked at the girls. all of them were dumbfounded and had jealousy evident in their eyes. i walked away with William and went towards Gaby who also was coming through the hallway from her music class. she hugged me and then William. we all walked to our standard table together. the popular table. the cheerleaders and football team were there too. we always sat there or i started sitting there when William and i started dating. i had insisted that Lily and her friends where i used to sit also joined us and everyone was fine with it. i could see that Zane, the captain of the football team, was starting to like Lily. if you know what i mean. Dolans standard table was exactly next to ours and we used to hang out with them too. William always insisted i sat on his lap. i tried to sit otherwise but he always pulled me to him. i don't mind at all anymore. i'm just happy i have people who support me and love me just the way i am.
