Crystal's POV:
A week later we put our plan into action. We visited with Blayne's family and they were more than glad to get rid of the boy. They didn't care that Erik wore a mask and that I was an American. We signed some papers and Blayne was ours. I was a mother and Erik was a father. We were proud of our son. I returned to America the legal way and went to live with Shantell. For two months I waited everyday for Erik. I wished I had thought to give him Shantell's phone number but I hadn't. I got into the habit of watching at the window in hopes that I would see him coming. One afternoon, I was in the living room of her fancy ranch house when one of the farmhands came into the room.
“Ms. Crystal, there is a strange man wanting to talk to you. He said you know him.” I grinned and jumping from my seat said,
“Does he have eight white wolves with him?” The ranch hand nodded and I ran past him. As I flung the door open I saw Erik standing beside his wolves. I looked at the sled and laughed. He had put wheels on it. I knew he wouldn't give that sled up. He jumped from it and held out his arms to me. I ran straight into them. He pulled me close then kissed me within an inch of my life. How I had missed him! I pulled back and said,
“Where did you put your furs? You look great in this but where are they?” He laughed. He was wearing a worn-out tee-shirt and a pair of jean. He looked hot. I didn't ever use that word for anyone but for him that was an understatement.
“Well, they just happened to be a little too warm. They are in the sled along with the rest of my things.” I smiled and kissed him again. I glanced back and saw the ranch hand scratching his head. I laughed and he walked away, shaking his head.
“Who is that?” Erik asked and I saw a hint of jealousy in his golden eyes.
“A ranch hand. I don't even know his name. No need to be jealous!” I kissed him again. Let me say that I missed doing that. I was making up for lost time!
“What do you mean? Me, jealous!” He gave me a shocked look.
“I saw your eyes turn green.” We laughed and he unharnessed the wolves. Cromwell instantly bounded over to where I had Nantucket. I had to keep them in a kennel because of the live stock and she was a wolf. I walked over and released them all. As we walked inside the house, all sixteen dogs and wolves followed us in. I smiled wickedly and crept up to Shantell's room. She had gone to sleep and I wanted to scare the living daylights out of her. I was so excited and my mind wasn't thinking straight. Erik followed me and gave me a strange look when I opened the bedroom door. I put one finger to my lips and silently crept forward on the floor. Fortunately it didn't make a sound and I suddenly sprang on my friend. She shot out of bed and gasped in shock. Her face was pale and her breathing labored. She took one look at me and then to the doorway at Erik and burst out laughing.
“What do you two think you are doing?” Erik shrugged his shoulders and pointed at me. Even though he was blaming me I could tell that he was having a hard time not laughing. Shantell shot him a glare and he rolled his eyes while heading back into the living room. Shantell turned to me and scowled.
“I was right in the middle of a good dream!” I laughed.
“Well, reality is much more fun, my friend!”
“Yea, when you have a cute guy to share it with. Now get back to him. You have a lot to get caught up on. Including,” and here she made a kissing noise. My jaw dropped.
“Are you implying that I missed his kissing me?” I tried to look surprised.
“Look, I have had more boyfriends then you have ever dreamed of. I know what a girl misses about a guy. Especially one like that. I know he has got to an amazing kisser. I will be down in a little while. I will knock before I come in, though.” I gasped and walked out with my head held high. I walked back into the living room and say him sitting on the couch, petting Nantucket. He looked up at me and smiled.
“I was wondering where Blayne was?” I smiled.
“He is out fixing fence with the ranch hands. He loves it here.” Erik smiled and removed the mask. I settled in beside him.
“That mask is so hot. I have to get me another one.” He shook his head as he looked at the fur. I leaned closer and said,
“Why don't you just not wear it? After all they are just scars.” He gave me a shocked look. I continued. “I prefer this face anyway.” He raised his eyebrows and I laughed.
“I'll think about it.” He leaned over and kissed me soundly. I returned it as well as I could but pulled away when I heard a knock on the door.
“Its Shantell. She said she would knock before entering.” He gave low laugh. Shantell walked in and sighed.
“You two can't stay away from each other. I am glad to see that you like each other. By the way when do you plan on having the wedding?” Erik and I looked at each other and together said,
“As soon as possible.”
