Chapter 16 | Love in the dark

Summary: Veronica told Toni about her on-going crush on y/n. In return, Toni told her to just go for it and kiss y/n, for real this time so she can get a straight reaction. Thereafter, y/n was only told half of the story and now knows that Veronica is still into her. What she doesn't know, is that Veronica has something up her sleeve...

Your P.O.V.
I couldn't believe it. Veronica was still in love with me after all this time. 

"Y/n, are you okay?"

I never saw it coming, especially when in the back of my mind I thought we were friends. Toni told me so smoothly, taking her time to tell me everything, to tell me that she understood how hard this probably was for me. It wasn't necessarily hard, but confusing? Definitely. "Where the hell are you going!" Toni yelled after me as I ran off towards the school building. I left my bag on the bench: the only thing I wanted to do right then, was find Veronica. Everyone was in their first class when I walked through the almost empty halls. Looking at my phone I noticed there were 4 minutes left until lunch break. I made a b-line for the toilets and suddenly started hyperventilating. This was a lot and what I felt was strange to me. Who am I, why is this day so fucking weird. Everything was changing and I hated it. First I wanted to text Cheryl but then decided I had to do this myself. "Shit, shit, shit. What am I gonna do, what am I gonna do." I spoke to myself as I walked in circles in the girls' bathroom. "Home, I have to go home." In all this madness it was probably better for me to just cool off at home, before I would do things I'd regret. Feeling good about the decision I closed the schools' doors behind me and remembered: Cheryl brought me here and I don't have the keys for her car. Ok, walking it is let's go. 

"Y/n." Great, Toni could drive me home. I really wanted to go home. "T, I need you to-"

I closed my eyes as the smell of Veronica's perfume filled my nose. Her hands touched my cheeks as she endulged me in an embrace of lightnings and fireworks. The world disappeared from under my feet making me float. I opened my eyes, out of breath from the sudden flood of sensation and couldn't believe what was happening. My eyes searched for hers, heart pounding in my ears, on a high from her lips on mine. When it was all done I looked up at Veronica in confusion. I didn't know wether I wanted to cry or smile. She apologetically shook her head in defeat. taking a few steps away from me. "I'm sorry." My feet moved in her direction and before I she could walk away, my hands grabbed her face and I pushed my lips on hers again. Veronica moaned into the kiss grabbing my waist. We moved in perfect harmony as my stomach filled itself with butterflies again, but this time it was a whole zoo filing me up from inside. When air became a problem we finally parted and this time I knew for sure; a smile appeared on my face. We smiled at each other with our noses touching. Veronica chuckled cutely making me giggle too.
"So what now?" I looked at the ground, shaking my head. "I don't know." Veronica gently grabbed my face, making me look up at her again. "Don't worry, we'll figure this out." That's when she got a text on her phone and I came back to reality. The reality where we are stood in the parking lot of our school. "It's my mom." I blinked a couple times furrowing my eyebrows. "Katie's coming tomorrow." Veronica let out a peaceful sigh as she put a strand of hair behind my ear. It dawned on me that I had just cheated on my girlfriend. I cheated on Cheryl. "I'm a horrible person Veronica." She started shaking her head. "I cheated on Cheryl." Tears were forming in my eyes and I took a step backwards as my own words echoed in my head. "I can't believe it." I gave up and sat down on the floor with my head in my hands. Veronica followed suit and sat down next to me, holding me as I was crying. "It's ok. It's all gonna be ok."
