Training With New and Old Friends

Ness' P.O.V

When we got into the training room Young Link turned back to me.

"Is there anything Master Hand didn't go over?" He asked

"Well, I guess he didn't go over shields," I responded

He gave me a confused look. Young Link then looked down at his Deku Shield, then back at me. "I don't think I need a lesson on how to use my own shield."

"Oh, not that shield, look." I put my arms together in front of me in a defensive way and a bubble shield appeared around me.

"Whoa, is that one of your abilities?" He said staring at the shield.

I separated my arms and the bubble shield disappeared. "No, everyone can do it you just have to put up a defensive stance. It'll block any attacks but you can still get grabbed and it gets smaller if you hold it out for too long or it takes a hit." I saw him try it out and summon the shield then immediately drop it.

"So are we still gonna train?" I asked

He looked up at me and did a quick nod "Right," and got in a ready stance.

Once the match had started we both ran in and jumped I was about to push PSI in front of me to push him off, but he swung his sword at me before I could. I landed on the stage on my back and quickly picked myself up only to see Young Link aim his arrow at me and shoot a flaming arrow. Like with any other projectile, I pulled out my bat and swung the arrow back to him. It must've caught him off-guard since he didn't shield it in time. Instead of questioning how I hit the arrow back, he shook it off and ran towards so I sent a PK Fire at him making him stop and shield it. Once he stopped I ran at him and went for a quick kick but before I could even get close enough he used his hookshot to grab and threw me up and hit me with the sword to go even farther up. Luckily, he didn't follow up and let me land on my feet. He was near the edge and threw a boomerang at me and I jumped over it. While he was focused on catching it again I ran at him and pushed PSI forward to push him off the stage. After he jumped I caught him in a PK Fire and jumped off to push him even further. Without his jump anymore his spin attack wasn't enough to get back to the stage.

"You got lucky I was winning too." He said after he teleported back

"It wasn't luck, more like experience," I said as I looked over to the older Link who was training with Falco.

Pikachu then came up to us with Pichu behind and we both turned to look at him.

"Pika! Pi!" He said looking at me as he pointed to the stage.

"Are you asking me to train with you?" I asked

"Pi!" He said nodding

I looked back at young Link "It's alright, I'll train with the Ice Climbers. If I can find them." he said as he left.

"Alright, I think we already know who's gonna win though," I replied as I looked back to Pikachu

When the match started I put up my PSI Shield as he threw out thunder jolts. I knew he would do that he starts a lot of matches with them, but while I was still absorbing them he ran up to me and grabbed me and head-butted me upwards and followed up hitting me up higher with his tail twice and finishing it with a thunder. After one combo I knew I was already very launchable. As I was falling I saw Pikachu again try to hit me so I kicked him back down and was able to land. He then started to run at so I ran to him and pushed my PSI in front of me before he could touch me and I jumped to follow where the PSI pushed him and kept pushing him with my PSI multiple times. In the middle of the hit he suddenly vanished. I immediately pushed my yoyo behind me remembering what happened at the finals. I knew I had hit him when I heard him yell "PIKA!". As he got up from the hit I tried to use the yoyo again but he shielded in time and hit me with a strong jolt of electricity sending me to the blast zone.

As I was put back on stage I saw Pichu rush to Pikachu and give him a hug. I couldn't help myself from smiling.

As I looked around I realized people were starting to leave. It was getting late.

"Glad I could train with you. Good luck tomorrow, both of you." I said looking at Pikachu and Pichu smiling.

I was back in my room putting on my pajamas and then I felt myself start to get a PSI message I sat down on my bed ready to hear it. It had been a while since I'd heard from Lucas.

"Hey, Ness" I heard in Paula's voice

"I know you get homesick a lot so I just wanted to make sure you were alright. You can always talk to me"

After I heard the message I let out a sigh.

"Thanks, Paula, I've been doing fine so far. I'll talk to you if I need to. Thanks for caring."

After I sent the message, I laid down on my bed ready to fall asleep.
